Overall a good product but not quite 100%. My new engine came with an oil leak, seems that someone stamped the letter "H" in the accessory case where the gasket seals the oil filter adapter and caused a leak. My A&P pulled the oil filter adapter and found it. He dressed out the stamping, put on a new gasket and fixed the leak. Have 500 hours on it now and still not leaking. Not something I like to see on a new engine. I have pictures if you're interested.
I've always been surprised that Lycoming didn't pursue the large radial engine market that Pratt & Whitney and Wright were in (other than the experimental R7755)
@harrisn3693 very interesting. There seems to have been a lot of licensing and technical assistance to both Germany and Japan shortly before the war started.
Soundtrack is horrible and distracting (would have preferred a voice over) but I appreciate you sharing this video. I'm ordering a 390 Thunderbolt later this month.
Thank you! I've been fascinated by the IO-360 since learning that it will be powering the Cherokee I fly in on Sunday - my first powered GA flight in 20-odd years. I saw under the hood yesterday. True they don't have the wow factor of a Harley or a Triumph, it's half-cased in baffles, but it does the job so bloody reliably.. How many overhauls would you consider still prime?

I need my engine rebuilt/overhauled....it is in my 1973 Citabria....it is a Lycoming O-235 C-1. Does anyone know where I can get my engine overhauled to new specs with new Lycoming cylinders ?
Reach out to Lycoming's tech support, they can advise you of your options for a factory overhaul with genuine Lycoming parts.... technicalsupport@lycoming.com
I have a factory rebuilt O-320 on order for my Musketeer. Looking forward to it. The current situation has raised hell with lead times, but that just means I'll be ready to fly again by spring.
What piston to cylinder wall clearance does Lycoming specify for these forged pistons? What aluminum alloy are the forgings composed of? Beautiful workmanship! No wonder Lycoming is supreme!
