Remember when CCP where adding voice (is that still even a thing?) but cowarded out on local voice. This is why. I mostly just wanted to play the jaws theme in local when I was prowling about in my recon stealthy boat. dun dun dun dun

Apparently he’s screaming “align”, not “Allah”; it appears to have been Garmon’s standard battlecry when he led fleets. Word of mouse also says he may or may not have been juicing at the time this was made.
Because if you damp out the logistics ships you can alpha through a recon ship before he can close range to apply reps. And this is why you don't lead a tournament team, but Garmon does.
+futsk01 The logi wasn't caught. It was damped at 70km out of its targeting range from the rapier. The rapier is the ship which will allow the other team to catch their ships so it's the most important thing to take off the field. Also in the AT setting it's difficult to alpha ships off the field; if they targeted the logi it wouldn't have died.
+futsk01 Do I really, really need to explain this to you? Well, alright then. First off, how well tanked for you think a recon ship is going to be, which has just 4 lows, mediums devoted to webs and a low starting HP value? How well tanked do you think a logistics ship is going to be, which they'll anticipate being primary, which has better slots and is generally more defensive? Now, out of the two, considering that it's harder to alpha ships in an AT setting at range given the setups you need to focus on, which of these two ships is going to pop before it can pull range when it's primaried? And also, which of these two ships poses the more immediate threat to your team, given that you have a lot of light ships, the enemy has 2 Typhoons which will rely on ships being pinned down for them to catch, as well as a bunch of Talwar and Algos which would appreciate the range control too? If you pop the Rapier, the Typhoons are marooned - you don't need to bother with them anymore and you can just pick off the frigs and destroyers at your leisure. Primarying the logistics would mean failing to kill the logistics, and giving up the initiative as the enemy positioned themselves however they liked.
Sergeeeek Alright, I'll take the nerd bait. This video shows two teams, Hydra Reloaded and Exodus, competing in a practice match of the Alliance Tournament, the most notable PvP tournament in EVE Online. Red dots are Exodus, purple dots are Hydra. The audio features voice communications from Hydra Reloaded, an extremely talented PvP corporation (guild) who spend a great deal of time preparing for the Alliance Tournament. Before the match begins, Hydra briefly discusses ships being used by Exodus ("Talwars" are a lightweight/expendable destroyer, "damps" are a debuff that affect range and/or targeting). The match starts, and Garmom, the fleet commander of Hydra Reloaded, screams his iconic battle cry, which I will not elaborate on as every description I can think of would get me added to a list somewhere. "Rapier is primary" means that all Hydra Reloaded ships are to focus their fire on a single Exodus ship, a Rapier recon cruiser. Yup, that's it in a nutshell.
