If you - think the tutorials you've seen haven't gone in depth enough - struggle to stay motivated - feel like you're not progressing - like relaxed vibes - enjoy thinking about skate topics

Appreciate your honesty! I really like your videos, and have been suggesting them to people who are learning. I think it's important for people to understand that the learning process is a long journey with lots of setbacks and even apparent stagnation. I used to work on making the tricks I already know even better, and would even try totally different tricks just to keep things "fresh", which seemed to help me get through the frustrations of not getting a trick for a long time. I'm just getting back into skating again and feel like I'm starting all over, but I'm trying to focus on enjoying the journey, and am loving it so far! Thanks for the videos!
I bought new ojs 101... I had to replace them after 3 hrs of use 😂😂😂 they where so bad, chunks fell off, flat spots on all, i installed my 1 yr old nano cubics 😂 ther are smoother than the ojs
I needed to hear this. I've been busting ass practicing ollies for months now and its just kind of burning me out; I almost feel like ive gotten worse over the last couple weeks. I think I need to take a break from ollies and just go cruise and have fun. Go brush up on that basic stuff. Love your videos still Sarah! I try and watch every one even if it's not in my immediate scope. Always something to think about and take away
Taking a break from it can do a lot of good. Totally agree 😃 And stoked to hear you enjoy the videos in general. Hope you have fun brushing up the basics and cruising.
I’ve been doing a lot of them mental approach to my skating as of late and I’ve been progressing more and learning new tricks by improving my consistency with what I already know how to do
SAME BOAT. I had a trick I was going to land this year... and I'm so close but it never happened, it feels like I'm not progressing at all. But there's a lot of new stuff that I'd never even considered trying that I'm landing. I still feel like I'm in a rut, but the biggest help is consistency in practice and mobility work.
definitely been hitting some imaginary plateaus lately, a little frustrating when I'm trying to post content on my channel without being repetitive and boring, good advice here and it's always nice to get a reminder that i'm doing this for the fun of it and the love of it!
oh definitely, I totally relate to that too. Skate progress is slow, which can make uploaded videos very repetitive. I've always had a fear my videos were repetitive haha but, you just gotta do your best and keep going 💪
hey sarah! half of skating really is mental haha.. by the by, i'm currently in the process of making a video talking about the us open and other stuff, and i was wondering if it'd be ok to use some of your footage from your highlight reel. cheers!
I've heard that bones bushing don't ride as well on Thunder trucks, they feel better on indys. I ride thunders when bushings go out I use thunder bushings (any transparent color, don't know why but it works better than solid colors) and tighnten them just a bit, after the first session or so they break in and stiffen up a bit then you can tighten them a little bit more if needed
You can definitely shred! But I agree, spending that much time on new more technical tricks you can’t land when to be honest your potential for the basic tricks you can land hasn’t been achieved. Probably not the best use of your time. If you get your Ollie tricks and basic flips close to your max athletic ability and can land them on more and more difficult surfaces and obstacles, those more difficult trick you have yet to land might come a lot easier and sooner.
For just about everything, I think flow and style comes from comfort and I think concentrating on enjoying things will ultimately pay off more than slowly progressing through multiple tricks/skills at once nonstop. You might be making incredible amounts of progress working on a trick list and you wouldn't know until you finally hit the "making" phase ... if that even lines up for more than one trick/combo at a time. Definitely an improved approach, I say, and hopefully much more enjoyable.
I feel like that constantly, when fixating over all the thinks I still can't do or land properly I tend to overlook how I'm slowly getting better at all the other things I'm not noticing
@@SarahParkMatott practice? hows your upper body strength? do you have to be like a f gorilla? also if i could do it have to tuck shirt in everyone will see a fat f gut lol. should i use a freestyle board for it? i bought one to use for a cruiser but quit after first ride, it felt sketchy af
my problem is that after pushing, the moment i put my back/pushing foot (right) on the board, my board leans right and steers right, every time without miss before i can even think about shifting my feet. any idea why this is happening? 🤔🥺🙏
I think I may have intuited that being further from the end of the tail helps, but I don't know if I've tried going that far in. I'll give it a try when I'm skating next.
This video got me jazzed! Inspirational doesn't say enough about your videos. You hit so many key points and this one absolutely sang to me. Can't thank you enough for all you do
Mitchie Brusco had a good tip (or challenge?) recently: try a trick at the speed you feel comfortable with, then try it again with a little more speed, and repeat. I've used that a few times this summer
