Everything in one place...EXCEPT script breakdown...which leads to story boards and shot lists...which leads to strip boards...which leads to schedules. A calendar. This is a major hurdle that makes this unusable to me and those I work with. This is sad because I really do love how easy this "software" is to work with. It is so clearly laid out. Enter data and before long your whole project has come together on paper. Except for that troublesome step of wanting a breakdown to lead to shot lists. It's just the way I think, from the Producer view, not the Director perspective. So, until this aspect of production is included there is still no All-In-One solution.
Hi Rick, thanks a lot for your comment! Well noted. Just to let you know: We have the script breakdown in our roadmap. The reason that we do not have it available yet is that we are a small team developing our tool and we have to set priorities. As we mostly focus on commercial film productions, the script breakdown feature for us is a helpful, but not indespensable feature. So please bear with us, it will come. Along with many other great features such as calendars, task lists, gantt chart and so much more! But apart from that it is amazing to hear that you love the interface otherwise. ;) All the best!
Dang, yeah, I hope this feature comes soon; until then, it's completely unusable for me, too. Get a .fdx import going and you might be able to sway people from movie magic and other tools. Also, no budgeting??
The question is, will this tool now ensure proper working hours for everyone involved in the process? And make their efforts visible for equal-pay to be a stronger discussion? Because this is in no way a “new” product. JIRA has helped studios for years, both games and films, with Workflows built exclusively for production. This is a newer looking JIRA. The focus has to remain on whether the problem is solved, and not on how nicely this makes the problem look.
I would kindly disagree. The easy of use and design of a product play a vital role in how you (like to) use it imho. Jira is certainly very powerful, but building your workflow for a film project in it is way more complex and time consuming. Although I do not want to dive into the old Mac vs. PC cliche, it is worth mentioning that Apple built its entire success on outstanding design and simplicity to use their products.
Thanks for your feedback! Please feel free to drop us an email with your suggestions. We know Jira very well, but from our own production experience we believe that for most producers and filmmakers Jira is not really an option. It may be able to do the job (at least part of it), but as creatives we love to use beautiful tools that bring us results quickly, and allow us to focus on the creativity.
If I m asking the question what is this and what does it do after watching this video you might be wanting to send yourself to an effective communication course in business or you might be applauding yourself 🎉 saying yes we have done our job and we’ve peaked people’s curiosity for them to further investigate our product.
Hi Caleb, we already integrated the importing of comments into DaVinci Resolve. FCP and Premiere are a bit more tricky to implement, but we are planning to offer that as well. I hope that helps!
I find the application combersome and not intuitive. Some actual how to use videos would be great instead of having to search through 45 minutes of talking.
Thanks for your comment! There are actually tutorials right in the application under the "Know more" tab and on our website if you go to the "Features section". I hope that helps. It would be great if you also describe a bit more what your issues are with the usability, as we love to learn directly from the users to improve on every step of our development. Please feel free to use the chat in the app or drop an email to (hello@the-producer.io)
Haha - Glad you like it! 😎 We're indeed working on a limited black edition of PRODUCER t-shirts and hoodies, in collab with a great workwear brand to be released soon. Drop me a message to be on the waitlist to make sure you get yours (hello@the-producer.io).
