That mess bag wouldn’t be traveling with me! I have a Tsunami 175 and love it.

While it is not obvious, you can in fact move the seat. If you loosen all four screws you will find that the mount for the seat is slotted and held in place by two threaded brackets with tabs. You can actually gain about 2 inches.

I like my Necky Rip12, but those Yaks are much nicer and have more adventure potential. It may be time for a change, with Covid pricing I may be able to get good money for my used Rip to put towards a nicer new yak.

I’m 5.10 ft and thinking to get the tsunami 145. What size paddle would you recommend for this kayak? Thanks!

Great video, these are the details I've been looking for! Sounds like you've got some paintballers in the area.

Great video, thanks. Bought the same boat. Does your rudder peg come all the way through to the inside of the rear hatch. Can’t get mine to sit flat on the top of the boat. Wonder if I’m supposed to drill out the plastic or I just don’t have it mounted correct.

I'm considering buying one, but I was curious as to how easy (or difficult) it is to enter and exit. What are your experiences concerning that?

I also have one, not too hard to get in and out of, just need get shore side leg out, lean, and slide your butt right behind the cockpit. Using a paddle for balance doesn't hurt, either. I am a chubby middle aged man with sore knees, and I can do it most times successfully.

Looks like a nice place to paddle how are you liking the tsunami 145 I'm thinking of getting one do they turn easy enough with the rudder ?

I will be doing another video and I'll be measure the cockpit. This should give everyone a better idea if they can fit. Let me know if you are looking for something specific you want me to measure.

I'm surprised there are not any used Pungo 140 for sale with the Orix hatches - some folks are scalping the old rubber hatch 2010 & older editions.

Hi from Australia. Good to see this overview. The new model has only just arrived in Australia. I have the older model. It has been used for up to five day trips. I like the new style. It has, however lost the day hatch which was handy when packing. I am keen to see how deep the aft section is behind the rear hatch. The new design looks like it could be higher. I also like the replaceable drag strip on the skeg. I usually use a C-Tug trolley on day paddles but there is no room for it when multi-day touring. Thanks for you effort and happy paddling! Hi David, do you know why they discontinued the day hatch?
@davidi4306
@davidi4306 3 года назад
@@tonysfishingadventures6725 I don't know. They rear bulkhead has been moved aft as well so more space behind the seat. I have now bought a new one as well. I like a number of the new features but would have liked to have retained the hatch and original bulkhead position. I will made a video of the two boats side by side.

Hey man, thanks for the video. I’ve been looking at this kayak and the Old Town Castine 145. I actually like the Castine better but I heard the installation of the rudder is a total pain in the butt so I’m thinking about the tsunami 145. I bought a used 16 foot touring kayak from the 90’s just to make sure I like it before I spent more money. Well I do like it so I want a newer nicer kayak. Do you like the seat?
@pendysyakkingadventures2999
@pendysyakkingadventures2999 5 лет назад
Sorry I took so long to reply. The seat is nice. I like how I can adjust the back up and down and back and forward. You can also lift the front part of the seat. So if you want to lock yourself in tight you can or if you just want to relax you can.
@mattmeyer834

Have you tried to modify those foot braces yet? My idea would be to cut the grey adjuster part off...leave about an inch or 2 and drill an 1/8 inch hole, put a round key ring through the hole to connect your steering cables to.
@mattmeyer834
@mattmeyer834 6 лет назад
You can actually pull the rivets out that hold the adjusters on...attach your cables to the rivet holes...where the adjuster runs through, get a piece of plastic tubing and epoxy that in those and run cables through the tubing. Hope that helps ya.
@pendysyakkingadventures2999
@pendysyakkingadventures2999 6 лет назад
I have not tried to modify them. I have been told that the company that I bought the kayaks from sent old foot braces. I was told that the XL foot braces will work with the 2018 Wilderness Tsunami.

These are our first kayaks. The only thing I can compare to is a canoe. lol If you check out some of our other videos, you can see my wife padding and she has no issues. We both have rudders and with the rudder up I tend to pull my stroke a little harder with my right hand. However I love the performance, it's not fast compared to our friend who had a fiberglass kayak. Let me know if it is something specific that you are looking for and I will help the best I can.
