Word of advice, dont have your daughter on video if you going to just be irrated with her talking. "Three eggs left" then you say, "obviously." My dude, whats wrong with you.
@straightblastpythons
@straightblastpythons 19 дней назад
I apologize if it seemed that way, but I wasn't irritated with her. I was irritated with my two dogs whining and pawing at the door while we were cutting. I had to pause the recording to put them outside. I did go back and listen to the point you mentioned, and the "obviously" was sarcastic, not a sense of irritation. My daughter is regularly part of helping take care of our animals, and a big part of why we started breeding to begin with. I think you're a bit out of pocket with this one, my dude.
@DC-qy1qy
@DC-qy1qy 19 дней назад
@straightblastpythons why be sarcastic about her observations when she's trying to be a part of what dads doing? @3:15 you finished off telling her how what she said wasnt accurate with, "and i dont even know if thats what it is, ok?" And her response was "ok" in a way as if she just got repremanded. Long story short, if it was indeed the dogs that had you iratated, it came off as you were frustrated with her, had to cut away, and then blamed it on your dogs, right after she said you were going to be really mad now. You also seemed agitated whenever she didnt pick an egg fast enough. Regardless if thats what happened or not, I am letting you know as an average viewer, thats how it came off. I have only recently started watching some of your vids and have enjoyed them for the most part. Maybe instead of calling me out of pocket on this, take a step back and remove your emotions from the situation and look at it from a viewers standpoint.

@@DC-qy1qy I appreciate the feedback, I can understand how it can be viewed that way and I will be more conscious about it in the future. My "out of pocket" statement was due to the fact that your comment came off as an attack on my relationship with my daughter. Sarcasm and general goofiness is in her nature and is often part of our communication. The camera didn't show her dancing around excited in the background since it was focused on the clutch. There was no reprimanding involved. I'm happy to hear that you have enjoyed the content so far and hope you will continue to do so moving forward. So I think the hate comes from how it ages and in lighter mutations specifically. Dark gene pastel clowns look great so it’s more so which projects they are put in. Also pastel can change the head stamp for the bad as far as looks go. Also I think with the animal being a super pastel is definitely to much with clown. Pastel is great in most projects with the exception of clown (mostly light projects), genetic stripe, and monsoon. Pastel arguably improves projects like Puzzle or Zebra. Good video and well thought out!

Omg u just described me. I’m binge watching videos about ball pythons because I’m thinking about getting into the hobby and breed. And my mind immediately went to for snakes I want to own and produce are mainly white ones like the BEL. And idc what anyone thinks tbh, i think it looks awesome and I want that 😂.
@straightblastpythons
@straightblastpythons Месяц назад
The key to breeding is to breed what you like because you may be stuck with them in the long run! There is nothing wrong with breeding for BELs at all, it's just a topic I see come up frequently so I thought I would discuss my thoughts. BELs drew me into the hobby and I think you can never go wrong with them! Get a pair and try it out! BEL's are a great introductory pairing to see if you like it since they are always in demand.

This may be the wrong “way” to let you know this , but I didn’t realize til I clicked on your page that if I’m not mistaken, you made the 2017 post about the banana gene (female vs male makers) xy and all that. that was not only very informative but as a rising breeder (although you can’t tell by my YT content just yet) i swear I watched that video over and over again on repeat and replayed It til I was sure I understood the banana gene. I was able to take what I learned and get it verified by my mentor whose has owned his reptile business for 30 years. True old timer and sure enough he verified it. Now just so I remember, the male maker will make banana gene males and non banana females ??? The chance of crossover seems small now but in some years from now after some more evolution and science take place do you think the chance of crossover will increase ? And the gene that makes them banana is based off the sex gene? So if a male maker has female babies, they will not look banana at all, but will those females produce the banana gene to all its offspring or just the males again like a cycle? And is this vice versa with female maker males correct this is some sort of genetic anomaly ? This is not only common with banana, but coral glow as well is that correct?Sorry trying to learn . As these were the first morphs I’ve heard of being referred to as X and y versus ZW and zz….please be kind I’m still learning … I do own 20 bp morphs that I’ve raised since their second feeding. Just so you know I’m at least capable of keeping them alive it’s the science part and the genetics that I am trying to learn however there are 7500 different morphs of BP’s and only 3500 species of snakes lol
@straightblastpythons
@straightblastpythons 2 месяца назад
I will do my best to answer the question since I worked with Banana for a few years now, but I was not the one to post the 2017 video you are referring to. I didn't start breeding until 2021 and my youtube channel started around the end of 2022 if I am correct. But on topic of the banana\coral glow (they are confirmed the same thing genetically) it is sex linked to the X or Y chromosome. Males are XY and females are XX. A male can be a male maker or female maker depending on if it has the banana gene on the X or Y chromosome. Females can produce male or female offspring since they only have the option of the X chromosome to give. in the case of a male maker all male offspring should be visual banana and no female offspring would normally have the gene and thus could not pass the gene on to their offspring in the future. On rare occasion yes you can see some crossover and get a female from a male maker or vise versa. I actually just had this happen in one of my last clutches. In that case they still only have XX chromosome and could pass it on to either male or female offspring. I'm not sure if this answers your question but I hope it helps.

@@straightblastpythons well first of all sorry about the mixup, but your information was insightful and helped confirm what I’ve been trying to learn , basically I would rather hear the same story from different sources several times even when I feel like I understand… everyone has something they can teach to someone else and I’m never too good or proud to absorb knowledge, even if it’s the same thing I’ve heard over and over again, especially as dedicated and passionate as I am… repetition matters because it’s speeds up and deepens the engagement process. I like to apply this method of learning often as the information stays in your brain longer .FYI, that is not my main or only source of learning. It’s just an example. I’m very fortunate and blessed to own 20 bp morphs and be mainly educated by my teacher who has owned the same Reptile store for 30 years… mostly snakes and rescues as well. I just wanted to add that in there to make it clear that any wisdom or knowledge that I have gained didn’t come from RU-vid but it has helped in many ways! Thank you for taking the time to respond, I hope your channel grows and prospers as well as my own…. Blessings .

I love the BEL, I do have people ask me for them. I only breed BEL one or two clutches a year at the most, sometimes I skip a year. I do Mojave to lesser, and I do bamboo calico yb fire to an enchi yb fire bamboo. This will be the 2nd pairing of the bamboo pairing in three years. I did hit a super bamboo super yb male and held him back for future breeding.. this boy is amazing and has such a beautiful bright head and design on him which only shows up has super white on light yellow white. I’ve had people ask me to make more. But limit what I produce with my BELs.
@straightblastpythons
@straightblastpythons 2 месяца назад
That seems to be the trend from people i've talked to since making this video is targeting one or two clutches with them a year. I think if vending smaller shows are a primary part of your overall plan then a few targeted clutches is likely a good idea. If you have people asking for more an additional clutch couldn't hurt.

I 100% agree what genetics are in the pairing will change the value of the animal from a financial standpoint to an extent. If you are selling to a breeder or someone who is more involved in the hobby, yes. If you are just selling to a pet keeper one white snake is the same as another in terms of a BEL. Most won't pay extra based on that in my experiences.
@Snakemommy
@Snakemommy 2 месяца назад
@@straightblastpythons agreed! From what I understand, breeders are often involved in certain breeding projects that is either just a goal of theirs or to gain notoriety as They have to keep up with the current trending content… I only mentioned that because it is a future goal once I’m educated and experienced enough to try and breed All the types of BEL’s there are… specially the very expensive and high-end ones … it’s just a goal I’ve set for myself even if it’s been done already… that doesn’t matter to me. It’s the experience AND the snakes that matter. Probably doesn’t help that my two BEL’s out of my 20 BP morphs are my absolute most treasured babies even though they’re not babies anymore. Thank you for responding and I hope your channel continues to grow and prosper! And I plan on making content That will grow as I continue to grow. To show through future content a slightly different journey, that no one starts at the Super Bowl… and that as long as I stay humble and dedicated on my path along with the extremely hard work it takes that I WILL oneday be the person I was created to be. A positive example of an unsuspecting chick that had the balls to back up her brains. (Balls meaning the bps lol) especially in times of criticism and judgment, which is basically part of any one who has a social media platform of any kind.

Nice video, good quality! Personally BELs are what drew me into breeding! I haven't produced any yet, as I wanted to focus more on recessives with my limited space, but this year I produced my first clutch and I owe it to that lovely white snake. Hoping to get a bamboo male soon since there seems to be alot less of them than other genes in the complex. In terms of market....theyre a solid win as a low priced item (under 500) since they throw no normals....especially with the more visual complex genes like lesser and bamboo, but they are a bit of a dead end, even IF they can be shed tested, visually that clown pied albino BEL is just...a white snake. So I can see why higher end breeders refrain from producing alot of them
@straightblastpythons
@straightblastpythons 2 месяца назад
Space is always an issue and I am of the same mindset focusing in on the recessive projects. I agree they are visually a dead end, and fully understand why they are not pushed on the high end. In my mind it just makes for such a powerful breeder to have in a rotation if you did have a BEL that was also for say Clown or Puzzle for example.

This gives me flashbacks to setting up bioactive vivariums for all of my praying mantis's. It is not cheap. between the exoterra glass enclosures, false bottom, ABG substrate, suitable plants, springtails/isopods, heat emitters/thermostats, lighting, & buying & keeping live insects for them to eat it really adds up. Luckly once you get the enclosures set, the costs really settle down. For me the most expensive thing is space. I just dont have enough space at the moment to do what I really want to do. Hopefully one of these days soon I will have adequate space to set out on an exciting new endeavor.
