The people who stood up who were whining and complaining about the way Patten was running HK etc. In some cases openly verbally abusing him and telling lies because they had the freedom of speech to do so at the time are now silent or in jail. The CCP has not honored the agreement it made nor does it tolerate criticism. As for those who complained and told lies it serves you right. Some of these people even predicted it would be great with the British gone! You don't hear anyone saying that now! !!
I lived in Monopoly Village with my ex pat parents in the mid 80s. Never thought I would see it again so thank you for posting the video. Emotional to see the village and surrounding areas.
Some of these Hong Kongers are incredibly naive. Now they subject their next generations to much terrible Chinese CCP culture and HK is being destroyed!

I am pleased that you informed me that you and your family appear in the video. That gives me a great deal of pleasure. I have only now become aware of this as your comments in Arabic have been translated into English by Google. You will be aware that photography in those days was prohibited and a deportable offence for an expat so I was taking a great risk in filming the video. Oh man oh man oh man! I can't believe I found this video. Thank you Sir for the lovely videos! I have been there since almost 1988 and spent 13 years with my family. I remember all the streets and shops! Your video is like a time machine. Thank you for sharing it!
I was flying through the days it opened and the computers crashed . Beyond what they mentioned about flight boards crashing doors down gangways opened or unlocked so had Chinese armed police and military posted at them . I went to the gate it first said and waited for a long layover to be told my plane was boarding the opposite end of the huge airport so had a mad dash to make it in time and all the travelator moving footpath escalator things stopped working too so had to dash a mile in a minute to try get my connecting flight , was an exciting day ! But ten times better than the old airport .
Nice video….. I believe that the cruise ship facility failed due to the fact that not a lot of ship were unable to birth at the terminal because the Kowloon to HK island under sea road tunnel prevented a lot of cruise ships from getting to the new terminal!!!!
