This channel started out as a overland channel. Travelled South America, North America all the way to Alaska. After that crossed Canada and the U.S.A to ship our Land Rover Defender to Europe. This was a nonstop trip that took twenty one months. Back home in South Africa the content still includes trips around Southern Africa. I am now doing some Black Smith work with the odd video. I will have content of British Motorcycles being ridden( Vincent, B.S.A Goldstar and Triumph Tiger500).
South Africa. Half of the people are from Europe. The other half are locals. African people do not like camping like the white locals do. Also it is expensive to attend. There are definitely black people who attend this event. It is open to anybody who wishes to attend.
I have read that there is a strange way of adjusting the tappets, it made no sense as the way it was written the tappet would be holding the valve off it's seat, did you adjust your tappets after this work? Chris B.
@@PhilUys That was my understanding Phil, but this person is adjusting the tappets on his TD5, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TGhL-Zc_hr0.html
Thanks for sharing this ride. I put on some headphone for it. Wow what a sound. I love the torquey gearing. The speedo climbs like a tach while the tach climbs like a speedo.
@@darrenvictoriathornhill1170 Putting on headphones is a good idea, the sound is much better. The instruments used 70 years ago are quite different from today's technology. I like the old real instruments.
Excellent! Once you got clear of the road bumps it was a very nice ride, where did the massive diesel slick come from? That would be very nasty on a bend, it looks like a lorry left his filler cap off. Stay safe! Chris B.
Those speed bumps can be very annoying. The diesel must be from a truck. A big development is taking place with lots of heavy equipment driving up and down Helshoogte.
It is. The motor is very robust with lots of cooling and plenty on oil for added cooling. The original crankshaft is the only weakness with lots and lots of roller bearings packed in around the crankpin. This crank is of the modern type which handles higher rpm better.
Afrikaburn beautifully and chaotically integrates both the dark and the light. I disagree with the environmental lip service that is paid. Let's be real, it's destructive to the environment if you constrain your window to the festival itself. But it plants a seed. Never have I contemplated my impact on this earth more consciously than during the Burn. You return from the festival asking yourself, 'How can I be ok with all of this?' It's pure confrontation with everything that is wrong and everything that is right with society. It's an alien landscape of pure contradiction. Hedonism, freedom, suffering, confrontation with emotions, it has it all. So far away from a music festival. It's in some other category. I will definitely be going again. Not all people allow themselves to care about everything Afrikaburn has to offer. It could also just be a collection of music festivals and escapism. But to enough, I think it is a kickstart into action in the 'default world'. Almost becomes a measuring yard, year on year, "What have I contributed since last year?". In that way, Afrikaburn is simultaneously destructive and constructive. Creativity and freedom are unleashed like a big bang, from which its magic can evolve into wider society. I realise I am all talk now. This was my first Burn, but I feel very motivated to walk the walk. We will see by this time next year whether there are any fruits to harvest.
You are a hundred percent right with your observations. It means different things to different people. One thing is for sure it leaves it's mark on you one way or another.
Great ride!Back in the day,my late father came home with a Black Shadow he purchased from an RAF Pilot.I remember as a young boy staring at this behemoth parked out back!and the noise !!nothing like it!today,I ride a Harley and a Suzuki sv650s,both V twins and I'm 70!
