this is all so true.. i had to learn the hard way 🥲 forcing yourself to just “be happy” and “be positive” leads to a slew of more problems in the future. Better to work through those difficult emotions from the get go 😭🙌🏼
Such a good point about “it could be better”. I used to think that to try to feel better about a situation without realize I created a cycle of invalidation and shame
Yesss definitely always told myself someone has it worse and to be grateful, without realizing I was invalidating my own experiences and not properly “dealing” with the difficult emotions brought up.
I’ve always heard about our inner critic, but never have I ever heard about our “inner coach”- I love it! I genuinely need to tap into that since I let my inner critic get the best of me sometimes as a self-defense mechanism
