i been here for 20 years the land prices here are crazy high, as a non Khmer you will find you be putting the title in a locals name, but honestly you are far better to rent as rents are low. do not worry about the high fencing and barred wire its normal every where you go, bars on windows also, as far as crime goes, i seen very little in my 20 years here, far safer than places in Australia i have lived, best bet is to treat people with the respect they deserve and you will be fine.

If you become a Cambodian citizen you can own land. I live in Siem Reap and built a house and put it in my Cambodian's girlfriends name. I live here on a retirement visa with my girlfriend and my stepdaughter. It's a great place to live if you associate with the right people. I have no problem. I have been to a few places and to a military base that her uncle is the commanding officer and have been met with respect everywhere I go. Cambodia is a safe country. If you look around you can find some great deals on renting a house or appointment. My girlfriend cooks and I enjoy her food better than any of the restaurants so we eat at home most of the time. Also my home is sealed off from the flies. The Fly is the national bird of Cambodia.

I’m an American expat living in Cambodia for the past 9 years. You are wrong! Land and houses here are incredibly expensive for what you get. Same with cars, very expensive due to taxes. Unfortunately they build a lot of “shop houses” that within a few years are essentially slums.
Thanks for getting involved . I only give my opinion based on my experience and knowledge . Unfortunately I come from one of the most expensive countries in the world . Australia. What I saw in realestate values was nothing short of astounding for the average Australian. I know America is a lot cheaper than Australia.
@@Crows0960like I said, I’ve been here for 9 years and we all know what’s happening with prices at home. I have no idea of housing prices in Australia. As an expat I find that the biggest problem here is meeting friends.

Yes thankyou , this is not your place , it certainly isnt vienna however there are people who can only afford this tier 2 type of city . Many do like Kampot , mainly because of the food , accommodation and alcohol costs are cheap by world standards . Thanks for watching
@@Crows0960 My only interest in Cambodia appears to be confined to Siem Reap for "goodness of fit" in my particular case and criteria. A retirement gem in my view for most of what's needed. The 1 hour flight to Bangkok is a big + for me.

Seed - Never let a woman use sex as a means to manipulate items 1 - 3.

yes i think you are right , looking back it was a poor choice of hotel , at the time the price seemed on track , but it was poorly managed , and too far out from centre .

Sihanoukville was not bad years ago, now it is a Chinese concrete nightmare. They are turning it into casinoville. I have heard awful stories from people who have been there in the past two years.

Why are you spreading a negative picture about the beautiful Sihanoukville?. I don't think you in your country USA had chance of swimming in such classy super swimming pool like this one in Sihanoukville-Cambodia ( Riva Hotel ).
Oh i dont think you read my video title , i have done many videos on sihanoukville , they are all good in terms of speaking of the problems in sihanoukville , The hotels are great , casinos , food etc all good . All shopping malls in EU countries, USA, Canada, Australia , Japan, Singapore, and in most of countries on planet-Earth are like this one on weekdays during working hours but would be full of peoples after work hours and at weekends. you're in in the Beautiful-City of Sihanoukville and very clean too. It's built after His Royal Majesty name King Sihanouk King of Cambodia the father of the current King of Cambodia. That shopping Center/ Mall is a super-Modern one. Bravo Cambodia for doing well having peace and progress and may God bless it always.

It seems like the Chinese came to that area, invested, then the Cambodian gov. took their money and did not allow their projects to continue afterwards.. now everyone blames the Chinese for the leftover buildings.. just hater horse shit

This is the saddest video I ever watched. "They paved paradise, put up a praking lot." Individually, Chinese are mostly nice enough. En-mass, they are like locusts, consumming everything in their path. If not already in the pocket of the Chinese, the Cambodian government should give jobs to finish the project, and sell the characterless cloned concrete 'houses' to LOCAL CAMBODIAN PEOPLE, CHEAP. I lived in China 15 years, Cambodia 1 (retired, white, USA - but can speak Chinese). (FYI)
Yes you are correct , the chinese people are very good people . It is sad to see so many houses which could be used by people . The cambodian government is in the pocket of the chinese government and there are poor results as i showed . I dont know the answer but these houses need to be finished by someone so people can live ,
