I’m really enjoying your channel. Baby powder in your gloves will let you slip the gloves on easily. We also had black walnut , beautiful but also a nuisance because so many things won’t grow under it due to the jugalone. When our kids were small they would collect them and sell them at the local Mennonite store. They call them English walnuts. We opened them by driving over them - I never knew about making medicine from the hill. Fascinating!
We had these on the farm I lived on in Virginia they needed to freeze once to be super sweet. It was tough beating the raccoons and opossums to them! Country folks made beer and “bread” ( cake) with them. Your video is great! I have told people that they don’t get thick but they are wonderful. Ours had seeds.
I have had pneumonia for 4 weeks. Been on antibiotics twice. Someone gave me millein. I've smoked it, it stopped a 12 hour cough immediately, but still it's smoke. Want to see what the tea does
The information you give us newbie foragers is definitely precious. I had no idea about the Euro and American nettle difference nor how to collect the seeds properly. Thank you very much.
Finally processed my dried Mullein today, and just like that ‘magic’ there you are on my RU-vid feed, oh how do ‘they’ do that/know, that would be scary, if I was a scaredy cat, teehee
Everytime I drink mullein it sets my asthma off. I don’t know why, I just really struggle to breathe after I have it. Stopped taking it now. I want it to work. So sad 😢
Hello Summer Sun, good to know! And really important to track ones own responses to herbs, no matter what they are "supposed to do". We are all different. Still, if you like, I suggest trying very smalls of mullein infusion, like an ounce at a time, or even a tablespoon, and see how you respond. Please keep me posted.
Your video is extraordinary splendid. It's so high quality. I love it, but why does RU-vid show on the first pages only really bad quality videos on nutmeg? :)) I was disappointed honestly because I wanted to find a good material with a person that I could trust. Feel their energy, see them, see that they are really committed to helping us. I only found you because I kept looking at more videos and more recommendations, because I could not believe that I did not find anything good
Hello Sarah, thanks for appreciating the nutmeg video. Glad you found it and hoping you'll enjoy the rest of the 100+ videos on the channel. Not sure why YT makes it difficult to find better quality videos, but glad you kept looking!
This video is 1 year old but8tis so helpful im new to take passion flower, I've been having nightmare n snowing loud , so tonight ill try 20 minutes before bedtime, ill see tks🎉😂😅
Hello Romelia, hoping you'll find the 100+ videos on my channel timeless. The are meant to be used well into the future, as the content doesn't become outdated. Sending good sleep vibes to you!
Glad it helped! Mullein is a biennial (usually lives for 2 years) and second year of life it usually flowers. More about it on our other videos below. FYI, you want to havest leaves before flower stalk emerges. Please view our other mullein videos where I show you how to ID, harvest and find this supportive friend. @@esreen Yes, thank you for asking. I grew some this year but it didn't make a flower this year. For a while I got it confused with my comfrey which is an extremely similar leaf. After your video I went out to inspect more closely. It is a slightly tougher texture and tastes different. I hope it lives through our winter and look forward to learning more about it.
Yes, you are right, superficially, its basal leaves can look like the leaves of comfrey and Olympic mullein. Elecampane should survive the winter, as it is cold hardy. And next year it should flower!
I’ve just bought my first batch of dried mullein, I’m going to take my oxygen levels before and after a week and I will post the results, thank you for the great video
I love paw paw fruit. Used to get it from a farmers market but those vendors are no longer there. I planted seeds 2 years ago so hopefully I have some of my own one of these days.
I have my husband who is 75 years of age, smoking the mullein leaf after he quit smoking ❣️ It satiates the desire to smoke, although he partakes less often & during these weeks he's healing his lungs & bronchioles 💖✨ (And yes, it's an approved method 👏💯)
Thanks so much. I made a tincture of jewelweed for the first time this year and wondered if it would help with the rash. I see it won’t and am wondering if you have a video on what to use once you have the rash. Thank you!
Hello Melissa, since you've already made the tincture, I would try it and see (some folks respond well to it). But one of my preferred herbs for pi rashes is Yellow Giant Hyssop. More about it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0h_Mhg4WyB8.html
Thanks, Mark, for your questions. I feel the water-based infusion drunk warm works best. But if using tincture, generally speaking, the average dose is about 1-2 ml (20-30 drops or about 1/4 teaspoon) a 2-3x a day sounds good. Keep in mind dose varies on constitution, context, and size of consumer.
What is this silliness to thank a plant or a tree before harvesting it? the tree is not God! God created all things and to HIm we are to be thankful, not to the creation! That is blasphemy! I appreciate your videos and knowlwedge of plants/herbs, but please keep it at that. we do'nt talk to plants, and certainly don't pray to them!
Hello Jadie, thanks for your question. Milkweed flowers are edible (even though many earlier foraging guides said they were not). Here is a good article on the subject: www.foragersharvest.com/newsletter/milkweed-a-truely-remarkable-wild-vegetable
Holy Cow, what an instructive clear video, particularly on the dosing it takes. Like a whole handful of mullein leaves (and maybe flowers too) do a long non-boily infusion, then wring out all the goodness from the mullein leaves in some kind of (hopefully natural) cheesecloth bag. I've never taken enough of any such thing natural, so it seems. Hmm, huh?
Herbalist always advise to discuss with your Dr., but they know NOTHING about herbs! They look at you as though you are from Mars or just crazy! Fortunately, I take no pharmaceuticals, so I do my own guinni pigging on myself. First, I will start trying a new herb by just making tea for a couple of days. If I have no negative reaction, I move on to my favorite delivery system and make a tincture. Of the dozens of herbal remedies and preventatives that I use and keep stocked for personal use, I have NEVER once had a bad reaction! My hope and prayer is that big pharma will lose it's grip on the market and that more & more naturopathic, homoeopathic and herbalist's can flourish in our society!
@@DinaFalconi You are most welcome! I should have also mentioned, how grateful I am for channels like yours and the many good books that I have! Herbalism can be quite overwhelming when trying to build a knowledge base, beyond chamomile & peppermint tea! Have learned so much over the years, but still feel that I know so little! I have enjoyed and learned from your videos and am especially interested in your medicine making videos, which brings me to mention; where have you been?
@@dannettepeters1507 Glad you appreciate the channel. We made over 100 videos for it and hope they help to educate for many years to come. Since you mention medicine-making, I do have an online course that may interest you: www.inthewild.kitchen/wild-food-health-boosters-and-herbal-remedies-today It's a deep dive into this subject.
Fortunately, both have medicinal properties. Too often with look-alike plants, one will help you and the other is very dangerous. If you mistake hemp for MJ all you get is disappointed😉😉😉!
It's amazing how much medicinal knowledge we have lost. Thank you for keeping the old ways and educating a new generation. If you have a ragweed allergy is it safe to do a test to determine sensitivity? If so contact or ingestion method?
Hello Sandy, thanks for appreciating the work! Yes, always good to test for sensitivity with any new herb or food. As you may know, most folks who are allergic to ragweed are not allergic to goldenrod. To test sensitivty, I suggest consuming a very small amount, and tracking response.
