Really enjoy watching you create in steel. I am with Bill on the heat. Us old guys have to work at night if the mosquitoes will cooperate. At least Slick50 and Puddin don’t have to worry about gaining any weight even with all the Taco Boy lunches. Keep the videos coming. They keep getting better.

You really should wear hearing protection though. That repetitive "not that bad" sound is actually killing your hearing. If you want to still be able to hear what you are doing in the shop when you are 50, you really ought to find a hearing protection solution that works for you. It does not need to be a massive decibel reduction but wear something. I use ear pro and I can still easily hear if I am on or off dolly. I promise if you start making a habit of using it, in a year, you will look back and say "what the hell was I thinking not using it?" Great work on the roof though. Definitely a relaxing thing to wind down to while watching.
Really enjoy watching Slick do his magic! Does any body shop fix dents like this, or do they all just put filler over it? Slick makes it look so easy, but I'm sure there's a lot of technique to it. I'm still trying to figure out how the dolly pushes the low spots up when the hammer strikes.
Think of it as the dolly guiding the metal back to its original shape and the hammer is the force that pushes it. This is why the sweep gauge was used to determine the curve of the panel and the dolly was chosen that matched that curve.
There's lots that I saw that I've like to buy... Except I'm about 5 years away from having a good work area/shop space... Only because I'm planning to move in less than 5 years to a place with more land.
An old coworker had an uncle in Florida with over 600 1950-1975 cars... muscle cars, station wagons, trucks, vans! When he passed away, the family called the local scrap yard to haul awy everything for FREE!!! 🤦 My coworker estimated on a conservative side probably $2-3M in parts/cars... But, the family didn't want to spend the time to sell them... They wanted to sell the land!
Would it be easier or better to just cut out that area and put a new piece of metal? I would think the metal would get thin with all the hammering. Like the metal work, it’s interesting.
Replacing metal is always an option! In this situation we want to keep as much of the OG metal as possible. The hammer and dolly method shown here is manipulating the metal back to the original shape.
Okay my friend let's talk about hearing protection. There is a massive difference between ripping off cigarette filters and jamming them in your ears at a sh#tty rock concert, versus "tuned" ear plugs. You cab still hear the highs in her voice when she moans, compared with the grunts you can feel. Technology has come a long way, at least go and check them out. Sure they may be $300, but hearing aids are close to $16,000 nowadays. Something to seriously think about. Keep rockin.
