the rule is that he has to kick it inside the landing zone which I think in this case was between the 30 yard line and the 45 yard line. It landed 2 yards beyond that. Therefore it’s a penalty on Miami giving the titans possession half the distance to the goal line, which is the 10 yard line like the ref specified. It’s confusing and I don’t like it. But that’s the rule. Hopefully I explained well enough.
You can't onside a punt. It's a punt. A kickoff can go 10+ yards and possession is live. A punt is you PUNTING away possession to the opponent for field position. Using a punt to kickoff is just trying stuff because nobody knows the rules. I'd still say Tennessee should fair catch it to avoid confusion. But idk if they have any hands teams players there? They should because an onside kick has to be announced, but I think that's the only rule I find stupid with this change. I just want my kickoffs back.
It was a kickoff not a punt. The play before was a safety. So they were forced to kick it off. However they called a onside kick and recovered it so it should of been Miamis ball. There is also no rule in how you kick the ball you can drop kick it or kick it from the ground in kickoff. They chose drop kick, called onside kick, and recovered it past the 10. Miami ball.
@cooldude9881 it's not a punt. It's a kickoff. The kicker just did a punt style kick. They also called this a onside kick. So technically it would be Miamis ball because they recovered the onside kick. However the refs just made up their own rules.
@@Chuberinothe ref didn’t make up his own rules, the rule is that he has to kick it inside the landing zone which I think in this case was between the 30 yard line and the 45 yard line. @matthewrivers6605 yea that makes sense so basically the rule encourages the receiving team not to touch the ball because if it bounces out of the landing zone they get a automatic red zone attempt. No one in that game did a great job of explaining that.
Williams for sure top 5 this week. Justin fields almost had more rushing yards than Williams passing. All those new targets and the Bears looked worse.
