I work in Alaska and California as a commercial fisherman. I have a degree in music Biz and film production. I lived in Atlanta Ga. for 11 years and made a living working on movies and tv shows. Hello Jason are you still on the Pillar Bay i was on this boat i'm thinking 2006 i ran the sonar for john one year i have been fishing in canada all my life i did'nt go back after the one season i went to sitka for i should have called around to see if anyone needed a sonar operator i have fished the roe herring in canada since 1988 and finished in canada 6 or more years ago herring fishing in canada is totally done this sitka fishery is a good one i really enjoyed this style of fishing in canada i ran the boat and the sonar at the same time it's so much better not having to multi task sonar operator only is the way i like to get this job done i ended up in 2018 i finally had it with this canadian fishing there's pretty well no seine fishing anymore okay thanks for listening if you know anyone who needs help with sonar locating the herring i will come to sitka again as i need something to do it's pretty boring not doing much

Not even close to over fishing this is very clean non destructive low bicatch fishing i love when treehuggers think they know something considering a squids life cycle is less than 18months they are very hard to overfish is the quotas are followed.i did a bit of this on the east coast and absolutely loved driving the jet boat tons of fun very easy fishery if you have the skills to keep the circle
We europeans gotta admit, these north americans can even squid hunt present as something as cool and desireable haha. Fishing alltogether is generally a very boring sport, but if you see how much variety of gear there is to buy and how prices can range from 0 to thousands of euros/dollars, makes you rellay think, whats wrong with this sport that we glorified it to these extreme levels haha
