Is Service Mapping here only referring to Top down service mapping? We can still expedite service mapping with manual method via service population choice list. This technique still works to some extent where in house products do not have in built discovery patterns.
Wow, thank you. I have watched so many videos on CSDM that never explain what the hell it is. This was to the point and explained perfectly. Bonus, I love how you guys are outside! Cheers
Thank you for sharing, implementing CSDM with the already implemented and customised CMDB is really difficult. Your video helped me in getting the right direction and how we should focus on outcome based approach rather than building product models that people usually follow. Good one!
Hi, you can find the CSDM to CMDB mapping right here: docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-servicenow-platform/page/product/csdm-implementation/concept/csdm-to-cmdb-mapping.html
This is a really interesting candidate to replace the SCCM integration. Since we have ITOM visibility and will be retiring SCCM from our environment in the near future, we have been looking for agent based alternatives. This seems like a good fit. However Agentless Discovery and the SCCM integrations work with both PROD and DEV instances of ServiceNow. From what you have shown, it seems that ACC clinet would only be able to point to one MID server (e.g. PROD) so testing changes in DEV will prove more complicated. Have I understood this correctly?
Hi, thanks for your great questions. Yes, you are 100% spot on! The ACC can be configured with a list of multiple MID Servers, however this is only for fail-over purposes. Meaning, if the first MID Server on the list fails to connect, then the ACC will try the next one on the list. You can find all these details in the acc.yml.example file that is provided with every ACC installation.
Its a great Master class to kick start the ITOM roadmap. We know that its difficult to cover all topics in single video. will see more and more from you in future. The CSDM concept was also cleared in simple language and with best example. Thanks a ton!
Hi Edward, thanks for your input. This is indeed a valid interpretation. However, please note that during our classes we're using the standard CSDM model (data-model) from ServiceNow, of which "Application Services" is a terminology and widely established concept. If that is an appropriate definition or not, is another (interesting) debate. Hope this gives you some perspective/insight into our choice of referring to "Application Services".
