That does look pretty easy. My question however is; can you make a 5lb or a 10lb rock? & if so, just what would be the price you would charge ? Please... don't be too ridiculous or get gready & make the price so unaffordable that, only certain people could purchase it. Please, i don't mean to offend you but, a lot of people at knapp ins, really go overboard with the price and forget to treat others the way they want to be treated. I'd love to buy some rocks, but just can't afford $2 or $4 a lb. After buying a 10lb rock from some people on RU-vid, a person cant afford to buy Another rock, can you relate to what im saying?
It’s been commented already but will it spark? By striker or in a flintlock?! Though it’s back ordered I’d buy immediately if so. If it sparks and anybody can make a video let us know!
Leave it to science to take us back to the Stone Age. I've been wondering when something like this would be developed. Colored stuff coming out, too. I can see how so many noobs coming into the hobby can be frustrating to the old pros. Kind of like flyfishing, eh? Only so many natural resources.
#HuntPrimitive I like to shoot blowpipe and when i look you knapping, i see small chips and i though. Can you make small blowdart head from small stone chip?? Or is there something that make it useless?
prairies really suck for knapping rocks, best I can ever find is on dismantled railway beds, usually put aside anything promising when rooting through collecting slinging stones.
Yes animals regenerate because they been domesticated and we breed cows and chickens. But wild animals once there all dead the population wont come back without human intervention and deer farms
glad to see that. So much good lithic material gets wasted by beginners. There I said it. Most of them want to get right into the good stuff, instead of practicing on glass or porcelain....the earth no longer makes this stuff.
I'm new to archery, and I was strgluing a lot to build a form. My shots were everywhere, I had no control at all. Then I was so tired and frustaded, decided to forget everythinh, and just focus on a spot and shoot at it. It worked beautifully, then I realized that I built a form quite different from what I see around, now I saw you on the thumbnail of this video, and your form seems to be exactly what I'm doing. It seems I'm going primite eventually.😀 This master class is gold, thanks for that.
As soon as China smells a buck to be made by making easy- knap preforms they will reverse engineer a substitute then flood the market with cheap clones of your product. Such is the way of the world these days.
Excellent, well done, just what is needed. Especially in areas that are flint and cheat poor. Overseas delivery will, as always, be expensive, I guess. Cheers
This is simply amazing. I've been fascinated with napping my entire life (38). A few years ago I bought a starter kit, and a bunch of high quality rock. I destroyed it all as expected. And with the price of rock I just had to stop the hobby. I couldn't justify spending a few hundred dollars dollars to make a bunch of powder gravel. Maybe I can finally start my passion again.
Looks really good and fun to knao. I don't usuallt like buying material but I might get me a piece. When first started i mostly avoided good stone since I was afrraid of wasting it knowing it is limited so learning of synthetic high quality stone is nice. One concern I have is: is it easy to identify the material as synthetic to a new knapper? The thought of people buying colored stuff and reselling it as high quality natural stone came to mind.
This is sweet! The color possibilities alone are exciting! I love a matte black/dark black chert and being able to have that on demand is INSANE. I have such high hopes for this and I encourage you to have fun with it! Make some cool stuff! Great video! :D
Are there any dangers of breathing the dust from this material? That should be something to take into consideration to minimize any danger to the knapper. Just something that crossed my mind.
