Walking singles requires two people. With this drill a person can throw their own marks when they don't have someone to throw for them. If you just send the dog back to home plate, you have to walk in and take delivery, or you take delivery after the dog retrieves and before you send her back. THis is just a smoother way to throw your own marks
Thankyou for the explanation I do walking singles by myself and I find that if my dog mismarks it or puts in a loose hunt I am on the spot to be my own bird boy I’m wondering how the version with 2 people would work ? Do u think that by using bucket marks where the dog sees multiple marks from the same location That u get a better result than the dog seeing each mark from where it picked up the last one?
Hi Tyler, I gradually ask for more precise and longer casts on the return so we could call it shaping. I use the handle on the return for control/ discipline and it is a start on the skills I need for handling on the water later.
Those fancy clips, are for show dogs and purse poodles. If you have a standard poodle, hopefully, they love the outdoors...and...if that's the case, they probably love to get filthy! That's why I prefer to keep my s'poodles in a "pony clip" or "mohawk".... It provides them some warmth and protection, from the elements, while keeping them cool and free of ticks, fleas, burdocks, dirt.... It's so much easier to keep them clean, this way. My girl, has never been about the bows and pom poms, we're spiked collars and mohawks, all day. We're watching this video, together, right now, she LIVES, to chase birds!!!... She always wants to go off, in the cut and be deep in some cattails, but I don't like that because I don't know what's in there... I worry about snakes... She loves to retrieve sticks from the water, we're working on her swimming... If I was able, to go in the water, with her, she would quickly, get over her apprehension. All the lakes here, are loaded with HAB, so right now, we have to stick to streams.... And she'll only go out, up to her chest, right now. She gets very excited when she sees ducks, on the water, I would never want her to actually catch one, and bring it to me... I'm trying, to train her to have respect, for ALL creatures. S'poodles are wonderful dogs for so many reasons. Best friend, you'll ever have 🐩❣️🐾
My puppy is 10 weeks old. She runs for the bumper and grabs it but dies not bring it back. Should I be worried? How can I fix that?. Is my expectations to high for a young pup?
That looks awesome. I’m new to scent work. But I have a question. Doesn’t the hotdog you are feeding through the scent box that has the Oder you want the pup to alert on contaminate the target scent? Why not reward outside of the scent box to not contaminate the target odor. Is the dog going to be searching for a urgent scent like explosives that have to also have hotdog scent in them? Maybe there are steps that you use to wean off feeding the hotdogs in the scent box. Second question. Did you make those scent boxes (tubes) yourself or did you purchase them. I like them and would like to get some.
I've got a 2 year old female lab she won't watch the dummy fall. If she can see it she will get it but in were in tall grass with a white bumper she has no clue where it went but I can walk out with her and get close and tell her to hunt it up and she'll hunt until she finds it. but when I throw it she just looks at me or my kids running around. Do u have any tips. i make noise when I throw it I'll say fun fun fun to just get her to run after it but if I make her sit then I get the problem.
