Really cool, ive read the 3 episodes of chapter one you have released of the comic, i like the classic fantasy vibes it has to it, but i do think the reason why zeemo is helping crystal should be explored more, something other than just "its the right thing to do" or something like that, also if youre ever planning on making more videos like this one, you say "um" and "uh" a lot, like nearly between every phrase, wish you the best.
Thanks! I got this template from mixam! It’s a print on demand service that I’m planning on using once the comic is done to make a physical copy for myself (or copies depending on interest). If you go on their website and pick a printing format they give you a downloadable template with it
RU-vid recommended some of your videos to me, and I'm glad I decided to watch them. Great advice and an even greater mood you establish in each video. I also love working with ink, so your drawings are very inspiring! Fantastic work, brother. Keep it up!
As someone aspiring to create his own comics and illustrations this video felt like sitting down with a friend and hearing his mind about the creative process, Thanks!
I was always intrigued in making comics and I have done some however I only shared them with friends and I was still horrible at drawing however, I have gained experience 5 years later and now I can draw better so I will take this as sign to start again (Exuse the bad grammar if any and for the long essay)
I can relate. It's so easy to nitpick your own work to an extreme degree, even down to the minute details of a piece. Especially when you're not super confident in that moment. It's so important to let stuff slide, get into the flow, and relax.
I like traditional and I also like digital traditional was costing a lot of money I don't know if it's cheaper to do comic books traditionally then animation man I had sales everywhere and I was like I'm going digital you still make a pretty cool looking comic book with digital you can draw it out then scan it in the picture
I'm just about trying to get back into making comics again. This was inspiring, thank you! I'll defininitely be checking out your comic, it looks fun and cute c:
Yep, the new banner looks pretty good. I read the comic, it's alright, not too special, but I like the cartoony artstyle, and the fact it's a step better then most webtoons trashy comics. It's neat.
Man don't worry about that, everyone when they're starting are not amazing artists. You shouldn't do or don't do something only thinking about if others will like it or not, in life you will always do mistake you and you must learn from them not be stopped by. Keep experimenting and practicing always trying to enjoy what are you doing👍
Basically everything @andrebozzo4209 said. Dont worry about skill level. We all start somewhere the important thing is to start ❤️ skill will always follow as long as you keep going. Art is not a race its a journey.
What page dimensions are recommended for traditional? Also are there standard margin sizes? The thing that stresses me out the most is understanding the logistics of page layout and format. I'm afraid I'll put in a lot of work and then it can't be printed right
Hey! Yeah this is something that freaked me out too! I do not draw on the traditional 11x17 page size because I don't have a scanner that can scan a page that large. I use 8.5x11. There is a great website mixam.com/ that has page templates you can download. They also have a print on demand service! Definitely not something I would use if you're trying to get published by a big name like image, or dark horse or something like that, as I'm sure they have their own dimensions they use for their printing. For doing your own thing though its great!
@zachmotart thank you very much for the reply. I'll definitely check out the link. I actually have one more question for you about your personal process. Do you draw in dialogue boxes manually or add them in with software? I apologize if you've already answered or shown this
just discovered this channel and I'm glad that I found it. I really like the design and the characters and would definitely stick around and follow your works 😁
hell yeah! ive been working on a comic i plan to make for over 4 years. Videos like these are a good way for me to stay motivated and keep chipping away at it
I think digital, largely, has a lot to do with style. Of course digital can replicate all manner of tools these days, but digital really shines when the work is detailed and you have deadlines. As a professional comic artist of 30 years, switching to digital completely changed my career. I was traditional for about the first 20 years I guess, but as someone who draws very tight, detailed and technical, that switch to digital was a complete game changer. I would argue, saved my career at that time. I too am starting the journey of a creator owned projects, and yes, still digital. ;) I guess I am like a reverse of yourself... all my sketches and planning is done traditional, all my finished work is digital. Not a plug for my channel, but you can see an example of the kind of work I do in the timelapse on my channel. Great video, love the work, I look forward to seeing the project develop. I'll be checking in for sure... :)
Hey Neil thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! It's awesome to hear someone's take who does this at a professional level and has been doing this longer than me. You're right I kind of am the reverse of you :) I actually started learning on digital and only in the past year or so have switched to traditional at least for the inking/linework. I feel that I can express myself more effectively and that I myself am actually faster in regards to my own style... Which is definitely less tight detailed and technical :) Checked out your channel, love your work as well and will definitely be checking in on you too! Thanks!
@@zachmotart oh that would make sense. I never seen one before, maybe I have but never paid attention to it and just assumed it was a traditional brush 🤣 nice inking btw. Also thanks for the info too 👍
I know this is one of the first videos you're talking about this story and it is probably super early to be asking questions about the world, but does this world have a hard or soft magic system? Would enjoy a video talking more in depth about topics like this! xD
Because in photoshop I can make the red pencil disappear without using an eraser and risk smearing the ink! I go over it in more detail in my color process video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ylJR0xXMTiE.html&ab_channel=ZachMoTArt
