Nice. Y'all crazy to take those Subarus there after a heavy rain. Great video tho.

Very impressive the Subarus got through this place. Did either need to pull cable? I haven’t been there yet, but am planning too. I have a slightly lifted 3rd gen Tacoma TRD Pro on 33’s. Suggestion: turn the phone sideways when filming. Definitely will make the footage much more enjoyable to watch.

Thanks! Unfortunately this road is now closed and gated. The SF had to pull cable in one spot where I didn't, but we think that my extra ~0.5 inches of suspension travel is what made the difference there. And yea a lot of these segments were initially intended for IG but I ended up compiling them into this video afterwards.

@@WhereTheTrailTakesMe Noooo, it’s closed now? Is it just closed for winter time like other forestry roads to open back up on spring or like closed for good?
@WhereTheTrailTakesMe
@WhereTheTrailTakesMe 10 месяцев назад
@@x_Heffe_X unfortunately its permanently closed per the USFS (www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/conf/alerts-notices/?aid=84325). We did this ride a few weeks after the closure was first announced, and as of a month ago or so I've been seeing posts about the new gates which were recently installed.

@@x_Heffe_X I'm really still learning about just how much there is in northern GA, but so far I haven't been to any FSR that's on the same level as this. There are plenty that have fun little spots like Trey Mountain Rd, Sarah's Creek Rd, and a handful of others in the area that I didn't catch the name of. How far away are you from Gulches in SC? I have to make it over to Beasley to see what the Roo can doo lol

what size is engine to the grei subaru ?
@WhereTheTrailTakesMe
@WhereTheTrailTakesMe Год назад
Everyone here had a 2.5L engine, but the grey outback was bogged down with a decent amount of weight between the front winch bumper and all the gear.

Amazing footage. It’s a good challenge, for sure, but handled well by those Subaru drivers! They handled the terrain with the best of them. Well done indeed!!
@BowmanOverland

I’m super impressed and the Wilderness models did great. However, to all viewers watching, I still do not recommend any Subarus try Hurricane Creek without someone with a winch. I went last fall and we had to winch out an older built out Sequioa. There is a high probability of disabling 2 wheels and that is the Achilles heel of even the best AWD system, like Subarus .
@WhereTheTrailTakesMe
@WhereTheTrailTakesMe Год назад
Agreed about HC, especially given how that last little hill is getting now. But some of us have a rear auto locker installed now so the diagonal wheel spin issue is a thing of the past.

Wilderness models are crazy capable
@wcwilson
@wcwilson Год назад
I have been looking to upgrade from my '22 Honda Pilot 4WD (which I assume could not do this) to something more capable off road and look to be exploring more of the NC mountains. Initially was looking at a '23 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss or Jeep Gladiator, but now not so sure either pickup is going to fit us (2 people, sometime 3, and 2 large dogs). Although I am drawn to a Wrangler Unlimited, it seems like a Subaru Outback Wilderness will probably give us what we need and be a much better choice as a daily driver and would offer better fuel economy. It was good to see how well it performed on this trail, so I appreciate your sharing it. How much easier a time of it would the Wrangler Unlimited have on this trail?
@WhereTheTrailTakesMe
@WhereTheTrailTakesMe Год назад
A wrangler of any kind would have very few problems of any kind on this trail. If you get one with open diffs, then you might need to pump the brakes on one obstacle in order to get over it.
@backwoodstherapy
@backwoodstherapy 9 месяцев назад
I have a Wrangler unlimited and can confirm what was said above. I've done Hurricane Creek, easy peasy. There's one rock obstacle I spun my tires on (big rock obstacle) but other than that it made Hurricane Creek feel like a county maintained gravel road. And that was before I regeared.
