This channel features me fiddling about with my hardware synths, drum machines, effects and Ableton Live and hopefully making sweet, sweet electronic music in the process.
Nice work on the track! Question what sound character difference between the preamps on A&H zed and yahama, did you make voyager using yamaha and hyper sleep using A&H?
@@cs00aap2 Thanks. I've always mixed tracks inside ableton so no preamps involved. If you're looking for colored sound there's much easier ways to do it than preamps; processed samples, gentle vst distortion / tape emulation. Also, the preamps in those type of relatively cheap mixers aren't particularly interesting sounding
@@reedalerise thanks I was just thinking about getting either one for summing box, i mainly mix inside ableton but the sound of your tracks sound like the late 80s early 90s stuff which I like.
@@cs00aap2 I've done some comparisons between summing in ableton vs a mixer and the yamaha mixer there's not much difference - maybe a little more width and 3d with a mixer. Mackie 1604 VLZ was the og 90s mixer if you wana go that route - overdriving the preamps was a very common practice.
@@reedalerise ah ok, doesn't sound much of a difference, I'll pass on buying a mixer. Buying hardware can be addictive as buying plugin, i think I'll stick my current method of using ff saturn plugin for color and maybe look out for mackie cr1604 pre vlz.
Commuting into London on a dark wet morning by train - my Blofeld is coming and I get to listen/watch this. Meant to be. Suspect you mightn’t have thought the Blofeld would still be a go to synth 11+ years after you first uploaded this?
Curious, on a track like this in this video, Do you write/compose it strictly from the MPC and the keyboard controller? Or does your midi set up allow you compose using ableton, and/or using the keybeds and pads/knobs of the other gear, too?
dude nice use of the er1 sequencer using the parts to sequence rhe blofeld. But, I'm more astonished on how you got the drum synth parts on the er1 to sound. Nice work. EDIT: I realized not using the pcm samples gives the er1 its own life, preserved for future use. Now, I just need another one, so I can have 4 more parts. 😂
Mannn, just learned about you from a post of 'Baiju' on MuffWiggler and everything I hear from you is stuff I've been looking for haha-even the gear is a vibe-hope to see your return to video jams & new releases.
I love that feeling of discovering lost or forgotten jams/tracks, and hearing them again for almost the first time. How long would you typically spend getting an hours set together? I’m thinking to work towards a similar length myself. Cheers 🖤💜
Thanks. Difficult to say how long this takes to put together - some tracks are years old, some might be more recent. I did remake my live set recently, pretty much from scratch, and it took about 4 months of creating new tracks and patterns on TR8S.
