Still don't understand why when ajr uses sounds and pop styles that have already been done its cringe and unoriginal but when other artists do it its suddenly nostalgic or well recieved
i know im late but id like to say as a ajr fan: break my face's lyrics are great, theres no meaning that song is entirely carried by the sound. Anyways thank you for the fair review and genuine criticism
Finally getting around to going through the new album in their discography and so of course I had to come back to The Tune Up. I have always had a very love/hate relationship with AJR, some songs really speak to me and I love them and can replay them over and over, and some songs I cannot stand. There is a certain aspect of their topics and what they write lyrics about that has always hit me due to the very specific circumstances surrounding the events of my life at the time. Turning Out part 1 hit crazy when my childhood crush was a year older than me, and exiting highschool year ahead of me. Turning Out part 2 hit crazy when we broke up after not being happy with each other my freshman year of college, and don’t throw out my Legos hit when my parents made me donate some of my own, or put them in storage. The Trick and Way Less Sad hit when I was finally coming into my own as an individual and figuring out how to be happy with just being myself instead of the person I wished I was. But the highly anticipated Turning Out part 3… did nothing for me, I don’t even like how it sounds. I do not like any of the songs on this album, really. Maybe I would have liked this more if I listened to it a year ago. Maybe there’s something there where it hits for people in those adolescent stages, or maybe I have studied music theory a bit and have just wised up to their sound. I don’t know. Maybe there’s something there, maybe man. I used to be in your comments talking about the tracks I liked, but this is definitely the first album I am just in full agreement with you. 0/12
The guy has sex with nobody. A girl likes him. They fall in love. He has sex with her (somebody). Things turn sour. He has sex with nobody. She sees. She has sex with nobody. He fights that nobody.
Hey I just started listening to the Human Experience by Caleb and Micah (they're new artists and this is their first album I'm pretty sure). I'm not done with it yet, but it's sounding great rn! You should give it a listen!
Calm down homie, they were just kids when they made this. I am glad they went a different direction with their music. This stuff reminds me of some Hansen mmmbop shit.
@@AJRContent I disagree!! I think this is far better than his last 3 projects!! The raps are way less cringe, the production is LEAGUES better, and for once, I have more songs to go back to than to skip through!
@@TheTuneUpyeah I can see why you'd like it, the two songs I would actually return to are road rage, and head honcho, I think most of the other songs range from just decent to meh, and there are one or two songs I would say I really did not like. But I'm glad you found some enjoyment out of this, and I do agree that this is better than his previous three released ill give him that😂
@@AJRContent damn!! Lucifer didn’t hit for you?! That’s wild!! But I respect it!! Head Honcho is fiiiire tho so I feel you!! And yeah man, it’s nice to actually enjoy a full project from Em past that first hype-ears listen!!
Lucifer was one of the ones that I found just decent along with brand new dance and fuel. Houdini and Tobey were the two that really didn't hit for me tho
glad you enjoyed the rest of the album like we did! i would recommend checking out ez mil when you ever have the time. it's kinda insane how that kid's first ever feature is with eminem
As a long time Eminem fan I’m Really really happy with this record. Lived up to its concept and is definitely one of his best records. With this and the gambino album coming soon this is shaping up to be a great month for new music
I’m sayyyying!! July has been insanely dope!!! The concept is so dope and I’m so happy with how he executed it!! Big kudos to Em!! One of the best drops this year!!
I'm gonna be honest, that AJR logo is about as bad as the music on here. What is wrong with that logo? Why does it look so bad? I'm so grateful that they changed it because I don't know if I could look at that horrible logo on all of their other album covers
Might be a hot take but I definitely vibe with Houdini even if the lyrics get a bit cheesy. I agree with you on the production for this one, it feels like a movie trailer song and not much more lol but the bars do carry for sure.
YOOO!!!! This is insanely accurate 😂😂 My friend said it sounded like an NF song and I instantly said “there it is” 😂 just build up with no payoff. Bars carried heavy, but that can also be a detractor, which is why I could see why you’d prefer Houdini more! It’s much easier and lighter to listen to!
Enjoyable track even if it doesn’t really feel like an Eminem song. I’m looking forward to seeing how it fits into the album as it’s one of the last tracks in the tracklist
I think Sean is so dope, but I totally get where you’re coming from! He actually had my favorite verse on here!! And yeah, solid is the best word for this one!
@@TheTuneUp I would say he also had my favorite verse on here. I’ll have to check out more of his stuff! This has me a little more excited for the album!
@@loganchitty I would highly recommend his mixtape Detriot, and the albums Dark Sky Paradise and Detroit 2!! My favorite releases of his!! IMO, those projects really showcase what he brings to the table as an artist!
They’re both insanely tough!!! For Drake, Family Matters was disrespectful is every way imaginable. Had Meet the Grahams never happened, this situation would’ve been very different!!
