Our hospitals make us one of the largest employers in the region, employing over 12,000 people, we also provide services through outsourcing arrangements. The Trust has an annual budget of £930m.
It's now very difficult to spot a nurse or doctor, as all staff - orderlies, nurses, doctors - are dressed in designer bin-bags. But this is a politically correct rejection of tradition on the part of management (preferring high fives instead of a handshake) and does not reflect on the competency of those on the front line. Still, there's something comforting about a nurse who looks like a nurse and a doctor who looks like a doctor.
