No...I am sorry, I cannot watch anymore of this into the 32 sec mark... my beloved doggie daughter(golden retriever/German Shep) had dry ice all over her when I seen her for the last time when my ex had her put down. Whatr a bastard he was. She lived until she was 18 and we fed her all the food that we ate. Fresh. Simple. No garlic or onions...she had what we ate for every night...even for spaghetti nights. Lady lived until she was 18- almost 19. We called them 'dinner with dad nights" Lades would love it. Eating with the family at the coffee table WITH her family. There is a HUGE difference from eating with your family, TO eating WITH your family. Your 4-legged family member NEEDS to know that they are REAL family.

My best friend and I needed this in the 90s when at age 12 we decided to make "caramel" by melting sugar on the stove. It smelled good and turned dark brown so we poured the liquid onto wax paper on her parents' kitchen table but it hardened into that glassy black stuff. It wouldn't come off the table to she got a meat mallet and handed me a knife and we attempted to beat and scrape it off, which didn't do much but destroy the table. Needless to say, my father had to help get them a new kitchen set from his furniture store and we swore off playing in the kitchen...for a while

Hi there! I loved your experiment. I oops and bought 2 -5000ml flask. Can I use the same formula as the 4000 ml flask. i would like to do it for a kids fair next week. i have the potassium iodine, the 30 % lab grade hydrogen peroxide and dish soap. I have been searching for the ratios for weeks and your video has been the best.

Why are you tooo much scared with elephant paste...nothing is unsafe
@JustinHames
@JustinHames Год назад
30% hydrogen peroxide stings quite a bit (trust me) and the reaction itself momentarily becomes plenty hot enough to produce skin burns. Plus, the potassium iodide stains clothing and skin a yellowish orange color. I wouldn’t say I’m scared, but it’s wise to use caution with this demonstration. 👨🏻‍🔬

Why is the distance important on testing them?
@JustinHames
@JustinHames Год назад
Thanks for asking! When I did this experiment I was curious if the recommended “social distancing” of 6 feet was really that effective when indoors, so I measured distance to how far my respiratory droplets would travel. Turns out they made it six feet. 😬

Why yeast?
@JustinHames
@JustinHames Год назад
The yeast acts like a catalyst to speed up the hydrogen peroxide reacting. It’s also perfectly safe so it’s why it is generally encouraged when trying the reaction at home.

maybe the equation you give at 3:46 will confuse students because this is a combustion reaction... and the "leftover" (carbon) you mentionned earlier does not appear in this equation. I'm pretty sure the studenrs will mix up combustion and pyrolysis.

Viral infection not bacterial
@JustinHames
@JustinHames Год назад
Yes, what grows in the agar are bacteria, but the connection here is meant to show how far the aerosol droplets, which in this case transferred the bacteria from my mouth to the dishes, travel further when a mask is not worn. Those same aerosols are what can carry viruses as well. Good observation!
@tanyanordin6753
@tanyanordin6753 Год назад
There are experts though that talk specifically about masks and the corona virus so use their studies specifically about viruse

Great video. One question: if I need the dry ice for tomorrow for example, it has to be in the freezer if I would order a bit in advance? Thanksss
@JustinHames
@JustinHames Год назад
Yep! That’s a good idea. There are a couple of ways to get it. Personally, I prefer to make it for my classes with a dry ice machine. I rent a CO2 cylinder with syphon that hooks up to my machine. A cheaper route would be to order it though. The dry ice here came with some meat that a neighbor of mine ordered online during the height of the pandemic. They ship it with dry ice to keep it cold. Quick note, don’t put the dry ice in a freezer though. That’s because dry ice is much, much colder than a standard freezer. Not only will it not work, it could break your freezer as well.

So it is not necessary to have isopropyl alcohol, ethanol alcohol works fine, right? Moreover, why would some people put salt in the solution?

I recently made some carbon out of granulated white sugar. I placed about 150 grams of sugar in a steel container, the container was fitted with a lid with a hole drilled into the top to allow gasses to escape but not allow oxygen inside while the pyrolysis was underway. (this is the same method i use to make charcoal from yard waste like small sticks) the gasses released from the sugar pyrolysis however were EXTREAMLY flammable compared to wood. So much that I became weary of the integrity of the container, as I started to worry that it might burst. it sounded like an acetylene torch and quite frankly looked like one as well. is this hydrogen and oxygen (HHO) escaping the vessel? it sure as hell isnt carbon dioxide. and actual carbon has NO taste at all.
