My hds live started glitching after recent update :/ trails and countour depths keep dissappearing, tried soft reset and other things, it still glitches, so ill try your method
Great recording and thx for sharing. Well, based on logic, if new upgrade includes updates of some settings which were included in the backup you've made, so as soon as you restore those settings you will erase the settings from the updates. The point is - Lowrance should test new updates better. Each update (not that much frequently to be honest ) causes an issues for the clients. I just upgraded my unit, literally all of them, including Ghost to default settings (hard reset) and I'm still facing the issue that I haven't had before the update.
mark why is my active target glitching while directly ran to a dakota lithium 20amp 12v battery? Ive heard ventilation could be the issue but for example i fished today in 58° and my active target is glitching out/ screen freezes up and then goes into no source mode? battery is 100% charged i do not understand, please help!
I would load (or reload) the latest software update for the active target box, and then perform a hard reset. If that does not resolve the issue, I would suspect it is with your battery or wiring. I use a 100 amp lithium battery for both my AT2 boxes and two HDS Pro units. While a 20 amp should handle a single AT box, if you have other items on the same battery you could be underpowered.
Hi Marc, one more question. If the first AT2 Ethernet cord/yellow cord plugs into your unit/graph. Where would the 2nd AT2 Ethernet cord/yellow plug plug into? Does it go into the same unit/graph as the first AT2? Or do you plug the 2nd AT2 into a second unit/graph?
Lowrance is ridiculous. I can't hardly get their crap to work together. I hope an update is the magic bullet. When all else fails, update Adobe and restart.
The current updates work great. If you still have problems after the updates and hard reset, then you have other reasons for the problems (except there is still a problem with using the Airmar transducer).
My Lowrance hook 2 7X will not soft, nor hard reset. No beeps, just always immediately comes up to the legal warning as soon as I press the on/off button. I never have to reenter my language, units, etc like a hard reset would cause. I've had nothing but trouble with this unit for years and forums suggest tons of trouble with this model. Is there a reliable cheap Lowrance that would be compatible with the plugs? Really just need depth, temp and fish.
Go to Bass Pro or Cabelas and look for the Lowrance Eagle models. These are great units and very inexpensive, and much better than your Hook2. Buy the price that fits your budget (larger screens cost more). You will need to change your transducer and power cable most likely, but the juice is worth the squeeze. I just noticed your Hook is an X model, which means it is just a display unit only (doesn't have a processor than can be reset).

@@iamalemontree There are many reasons that are too numerous to cover here; guess I should do a video about QuickDrops. The main reason is that they cast like a bullet and sink straight to the bottom. When your line is straight between your rod tip and your dropshot weight, you can feel the smallest of bites, and catch more bass. Do you know the part numbers for the wheel bearings? And when you install the bearings, do you only add oil when everything is installed or do you add grease to the bearings, then install, then add oil? Sorry for any stupid questions, this is my first time replacing trailer wheel bearings.
I ordered the bearings directly from Ranger parts department. I don't have access to the part number for 10 days, but will add it when I can. You only add oil, after the installation. No grease. To add oil, just fill the oil bath cover to the brim, then quickly put it on the hub and screw it in. Rotate the hub a few times and wait 10 minutes, then check the level.
@@marcmarcantonio when I put the disk from HD 7 in the HDS 12 it says it doesn’t recognize the format. Works great on the HD 7 unit. Maybe operator error. Brand new with the 12”
@keithmaupin3247 Make sure the card is 32gb or less and formatted FAT32. Try saving your waypoints on your TI 7 in the highest format it offers. I don't use the TI series so am not an expert with them
@@keithmaupin3247 When you put the card in your HDS 7 and save your waypoints, choose a different format. The 12 should recognize at lease one of the formats that the 7 lets you choose (most likely the format with the highest number). I haven't had an HDS 7 for many years so I cannot remember the format choices. Does you 7 have an ethernet port (yellow). If so just connect an ethernet cable between them and the waypoints will sychronize immediately with the 12.
@@marcmarcantonio I’m not sure of that but before I installed the 12 I had the 10 hooked up and it could read the 7. I don’t know what hanged but I’ll check it out again. I’ll hook the Lowrance 10 back up and see if the connect. Thank you. I’ll let you know. Or maybe I’ll try putting the 10 up on the bow.
Awesome just awesome! I’m getting a bass boat (hopefully this weekend) from Tracker in Tacoma. It’ll be my first rig and I’ll be hitting up these lakes as well for some smallie action. I’ve got a bit to learn as far as boat operation and using graphs/electronics but as long as I’m throwing the right stuff when I’m out there, I should be good. Thanks for the tips and the motivation! I just found your channel and have found it to be very informative. I have a Lowrance Carbon 9 and really like it, but recently, after doing the latest software update, have not been able to get a depth reading on the 2D sonar , downscan, or sidescan screens. Also, the screen gets very hot to touch now. Any suggestions?
Often times when you perform an update, your settings can change. I don't like your screen getting hot. Maybe something is running or working too hard. The best thing to do is to backup your waypoints and perform a hard reset. My videos will show you how to do this properly. Then go back into your settings and make sure you have Channel 2 turned on (the black port on the back where your 3in1 transducer (or similar) is plugged into. The hard reset will return it back to factory settings so you will need to reinstall your settings. But it should then work well.
@@marcmarcantonio Thanks for the reply and help. Last night, I also read that Lowrance recommends to recalibrate the screen, so I did that. I also turned down the brightness on the screen as some comments said that could cause the screen to heat up. If this doesn't help, I'll do a hard reset. I watched your video about how to do that. I appreciate your help.
I was off the water by 3 pm and got a late start. It was a slow day for me because I was still fishing deeper in hopes of getting into some really big ones again. Could have caught lots of fish if I went shallow, but not trophy size.
There are gigantic smallmouth bass in that lake. I've even seen guys flinging 1 ounce ball jigs with Yamamoto twin tail grubs casting from shore on foot (no boat even) with two over 25" hunkin thick, wide fish on stringers, each. Two guys, two fish each! Giant smallmouth! They were casting round ambassador baitcasters using 15lb. mono line on 8'6" fiberglass steelhead rods. A guy I knew in the military said he fishes that lake for these, in 50-80 (80!) depths with a crawdad plastic. He has a bass boat. He said there are 12 pound smallmouth bass in that lake that die of old age that have never seen a lure all their life.
Nice mount. I did the same thing at first but the module kept getting way hot and shutting down when I was out fishing ledges in summer. I remounted it under the console and it works great because air can get to it and keeps cooler. Thank you for your video. Good luck!
Adequate cooling is important. I mount my AT2 boxes with the cooling fins oriented vertically to allow the heat to rise and escape. I don't put life jackets or other items other than rods near them. My rod lockers actually stay cooler than ambient temperatures when fishing on extremely hot days. Not sure if that is a function of how well insulated my rod lockers are, or the color of the boat, or combination of factors. It is all part of a finesse system that produces a lot more fish. Use the Gamakatsu dropshot hooks I mention, and QuickDrops and you catch more fish. The light line is important in this clear water, and imparts livelier action to the Senko or worm. The small hook is sharp and sticks them good, and is necessary with 6lb test line.
