I'm trying to learn this female part and i found this tutorial perfect!! I learned by heart all the passages but when it comes to sing along with the male part i get tricked on "place to have a drink or two" and the final "i love you". When i sing the part alone i do it flawlessly but just won't work when joining someone...should i just repeat the exercise till forever or can you suggest something? 😵💫
Amazingly it worked! However it does take some time and effort to master it. I recorded my own melody part and sung the harmony to that but if the melody is too loud it's easy to get side tracked. Also I concentrated on each individual part and then joined the three together. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for this tutorial 😭😭😭😭💕💕, I will be having a singing contest by Saturday, and i have picked, i dreamed a dream as my song of choice, and lately I have been struggling to sing the “be” and “seemed” part. But ever since ive stumbled on your tutorial I can finally hit the notes right! Thank you again so much 😭😭😭, you are a beautiful and wonderful vocal coach 😖✨✨🫶🫶💕💕
mezzo soprano ( choral conductor called me 2nd Soprano… is that different?) could hit alto fairly easily, proper soprano with practice for breath. deeper sounds are “easier”.
vibrato is naturally strong and honestly, hard to stop/crontrol so it makes defining a note a struggle. failed some vocal classes because i couldn’t control it.
If you want to make videos about singing, maybe don't work in a room that gives you incredible echo. I almost stopped before the music part even set in because the sound was so bad.
Hey everyone! Can you do me a favour? I did my vocal range test in a karaoke app and it showed "F2-G-4 • Alto". Can you suggest me any song I'll be comfortable singing?
This is great, but I would avoid the lip trill exercise. Here's why: Lip trills foster breathiness, and should only be used with someone who has excessive subglottal pressure. Let me explain physiologically. A lip trill is essentially making a reed or vibrating mechanism out of the lips. If you hold your finger in front of your mouth while doing a lip trill, you will feel the air blowing by your finger...the amount of air that is required to trill the lips. This lip 'reed' is on top of the same tube of air that the vocal folds are on top of further back in the air tube. When the vocal folds are phonating properly there is an economy of air (the vocal 'reed' is like an oboe reed...the proper sound of a 'double reed' instrument, which the voice technically is, is very focused and nasal-like). I.e., if you are phonating properly the voice is not breathy but very focused, and there is almost no air going by your finger if you hold it in front of your mouth when singing properly. In order to provide the amount of air for a lip trill, you would have to be much more unfocused (i.e., breathy) at the vocal folds to allow enough air to support the lip trill further along in the same air tube. I have had students complaining that they have not been able to remove breathiness from their voice, while all along they were reinforcing a breathy voice by practicing lip trills daily. In defense of this knowledgeable clinician, it is common practice to use lip trills in voice studios. I used them until I learned about this. If you want to loosen your lips and tongue, you can do these exercises unvoiced (i.e., with just air and no phonation from the vocal folds). The other exercises are good to do, though, and I would continue them.
Just a little tip for karaoke singers doing duets: Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton took turns singing lead/harmony on Islands In The Stream and it turns out this is a really nice technique (dare I say trick?) that works on a lot of songs, including Something Stupid. If you want a real challenge, try it on Endless Love... both parts are pretty difficult and you'll have to know where and when to switch octaves if you don't have the range for both voices. It doesn't always work but you'd be surprised how often it does, so don't feel constrained by what someone else thinks are the male and female parts. :)
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight Not a footprint to be seen A kingdom of isolation And it looks like I'm the queen The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried Don't let them in, don't let them see Be the good girl you always have to be Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know Well, now they know Let it go, let it go Can't hold it back anymore Let it go, let it go Turn away and slam the door I don't care what they're going to say Let the storm rage on The cold never bothered me anyway It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all It's time to see what I can do To test the limits and break through No right, no wrong, no rules for me I'm free Let it go, let it go I am one with the wind and sky Let it go, let it go You'll never see me cry Here I stand and here I stay Let the storm rage on My power flurries through the air into the ground My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast I'm never going back, the past is in the past Let it go, let it go And I'll rise like the break of dawn Let it go, let it go That perfect girl is gone Here I stand in the light of day Let the storm rage on The cold never bothered me anyway
My teacher thinks I’m soprano, someone else felt I would be alto, so I’m guessing I’m a mezzo. I can do high notes but my high notes are not as effortless sounding. So I’m a bit frustrated he thinks im a soprano and pushing me to do higher stuff, when my voice naturally prefers sitting a bit lower. Oh well…
