As far as I know, Keith did not appreciate Miles music at that time, at all . But he joines the band, for which reason ever ... Seems like 30 years later he does see the value of those sessions and does take pride in having contributed to those gigs ....
Of all the various incarnations of jazz….this is the hippest one of all….virtuoso be-bop masters completely in phase with each other and the new musical and electric sounds captivating the world.
ok,this stuff is not played in this world.Miles Davis and his guys make this music f. Ing so much better.Does that make any sense or am I out of touch with quality progressive jazz/rock fusion music?
Huge fan of all the artists on stage but the combined output was some of the worst jazz ever created. Unpopular opinion perhaps but I don’t give 2 Fi€ks. It is what it is. A crock of overrated nonsense
Apparently Gary Bartz asked Miles to have a word with Keith Jarrett as he was too busy behind his solos. Miles told Keith that Gary loved what he was doing and should do more.
What an amazing festival. Not only did they have the Miles band, but also Emerson, Lake and Palmer's first big concert with cannons firing, one of the best live performances by Jethro Tull, The Doors, The Who, etc... That RMI electric piano Jarrett got stuck with sounds like crap, but he made good use of it. At least give him a damn Fender Rhodes with a clean amp. Miles' band just kicked ass.
I'm 85 and grew up loving jazz. When I first heard/saw this abomination of music I called it the night Miles Davis killed jazz. He had the largest audience ever to introduce some swinging jazz and he destroyed jazz fo the young and old crowd. They were trained to clap. What a bunch of crap. ISometiomes I think he did it on purpose.
These musicians are innovators ,creators of a language unspoken before. The is so awesome to see and hear . Miles Davis and all of those musicians on that stage take a bow and thank you for creating an Art that we will never hear again .Due to corporate ownership of the arts . Creativity and talent is what we are hearing and watching and what a pleasure it was . ❤
Genius. I miss this level of joy, adventure, fire, and intellect in music. People just can’t handle it these days, thanks to the dumbing down mind whip of the digital leash of tik tok etc.
