Home Aquatics is an extension of my freshwater fish keeping hobby. I've been keeping fish for over five years now and breed certain species for their looks as well as personality. The main fish I currently keep are different strains of guppies: Dumbo Ear, Albino, Nebula Steel, and my own personal strain that I have been working on. Through Home Aquatics I am able to share with other hobbyists what I have developed. Home Aquatics is also a place where I will vlog weekly about aquarium topics either pertaining to my own tanks, local fish stores, or the hobby as a whole. Check back every Saturday for new videos and don't forget to Like, Subscribe, and Comment!
I got a new tank and while it was regulating for a month i noticed something in the water. It was a baby! I didn't have hope for her seeing as it want even an established tank. She survived and thrives to this day! It is however her first birth and I'm worried for her. This video helped
I have been studying guppies for 55 years. And five years ago I saw homosexual behavior in male netgupping for the first time. That was very annoying, because I needed those guys to achieve my ideal. And I saw homosexual behavior at Endlers in the pet store last week. For safety's sake, I took a pair of a different breed. But unfortunately that male is also not interested in the female. Hopefully the female has been impregnated by another male. HOW DO GUPES BECOME/ARE HOMOPHIL?
What if you can’t see the gravid spot? My yellow/orange guppy stomach is a solid white, but she’s huge now. I have her in a breeder floating box just in case, but I don’t know if she’s fat or pregnant (I feed them brine shrimp 3x a week) lol simply because I can’t see her gravid spot like I can my other females.
thanks for your videos ; people have said that albino ( albino full gold , albino supper red.........) have stronger prominence colors ( more shiny , more glitter .....) than not albino ???? and i think it is true ??? thanks if reply
I have a few tanks, by May 2022 I'll be in the hobby for 1 year. Still learning. I have slightly over 200 fish, 47 different species. All doing great, except I struggle with guppies. I also do 50% water changes weekly clean filters every two months. My local shop mentioned I should clean filters every 3 months. I buy 10 guppies male female mix add to quarantine tank no medicine or salt just as is. Quarantine tank has some plants in and hiding place. By the end of the week I only have about 3 maybe 4 guppies of the 10 left. I bought form 3 different places around me which is the best suppliers we have close to me. With all the same result. Sometimes I have a few fry but the adults keep dying. What can it be. I'm buying guppies now on a weekly basis to get stock levels right. Some channels and websites talks about inbreeding and bad strains, brackish water where they might come from. Should I add salt to my tank to ease them into my water?
This video was perfect, I’ve been trying to tell if my females are pregnant and this video has shown me that 2 of my females are pregnant! So excited 😆
I actually have had to upgrade my tank since.. twice 😂 yes they were pregnant, since the mothers have passed and I have two tanks full of their babies, male and female tank
I have an outdoor plastic pond with lot and lot of floating plant. let my guppy and platty lost and control their population themselves. No water change only top up. The do grow pretty slow because I barely feed them they forge for bug and live off algae. What I notice is adult max out much smaller than indoor fish where we artificially feed them daily.
I just put my pregnant one into her own reader box but she’s swimming around chaotically seeming like she’s not able to relax and one guppy is right in the area where I took her out from and hasn’t left and then another one is swimming underneath the rock where I found the first babies what does that mean?? Should I maybe add a breathing partner for her??
What would you advice if you see your females are pregnant, keep them on a separate tank. Or leave them on a current tank. I noticed that my males they’re chasing the gravid spot. Please advice, would like to have fries
I just put males and females in a tank and while the males are all over the place the females are just sitting on the side doing nothing. Wondering if they are not moving because of pregnancy or if there is something wrong.
Could Females have a gravid spot and not be pregnant? I got my little girl actually recently I noticed she had one and I was going to breed her with my males but if she is pregnant I won't
