Acting...not so much. His guitar, drum, and vocal talent was out of this world. First tier, top notch, grandiose is where Nick ranks in my books. This world lost an amazing man too soon. Thank you Nick for everything you taught me and making me a better musician. Fuck cancer!
@@arihautala224 I don't remember, and it was some famous black blues guy not so commonly known. Wish I could remember but it was years ago. Nothing new though. SRV was a Hendrix clone and an Albert King clone.
@De Oppresso Libtard True. Same goes e.g. for The Paladins' version of Daddy Yar... I have to admit, there's definitely more drive in those "newer" records than in the old ones
As a close personal friend to nick and family members id like to say Nick loved every minute of every show he played even when we were kids growing up.thank you for all the love and support given to him over the years we all still miss him dearly as he was not only a very talented musician he was the best friend and brother anyone could ever be R.I.P NICK
Thank you for sharing this!! I'm sure you hesitated due to the camera difficulties, but the fact is it's an absolute joy to HEAR these guys all together. I say this with tears in my eyes, and ironically a smile on my face... I miss them so much... We were so lucky to have them, at least for a little while
Yes, I agree! I was there, taking still photos, and it was an absolute treat to see the band that recorded the Is It News album, playing it live. This was the second time Big Doyle had played the Lone Star Roundup car show, the first time was in 2005, when the show was still Saturday only,on the river in the park. But yeah, losing Denny after Doyle and Nick brings it home how you gotta see these musicians while you can....To my knowledge, this is probably one of the only shows they did with the complete album lineup. I had forgotten about them playing this song in addition to the new album material. The whole show was great though! And IIRC it was a bright, sunny April afternoon, so that may account for the video brightness. One of the things I love about this event is that the music is always stellar, and the sound is always well produced. I saw Denny there with Doyle on this show (2008), in 2010 and 2012 with Bill Carter, and in 2015 with T G BAD. All four spectacular! And we'd hang out after the show, till he had to head out and I had to go back to my booth in the swap meet. It's gonna be strange, not being able to do that anymore, and the Saxon was my Friday after the show destination. I didn't know Nick Curran( saw him play with Jimmie at the Continental Club though and it was great), but I knew Doyle and Denny very well...great guys, great friends, and tremendously talented musicians. Miss them both like family....
