I always struggled to understand the announcements made by the pilots, and I used to blame my English proficiency. However, when I sought confirmation from my fellow passengers, I realized that I shouldn't be too hard on myself. On a serious note, I must acknowledge that the introduction to Aviation is very effective. It covers various channels of communication in aviation, the nature of communication, and the ICAO language proficiency requirements. Like the speaker, I am also interested in learning how different entities implement and test the six areas of language proficiency. Standardization in testing and evaluation practices is necessary! I was under the impression that this presentation would include population outside the US. I am very curious to see how the politics of the gender social constructs in the US is affecting the TEFL and EAL communities.
