I’ll never I desatan why they didn’t just use an actual 12 year old girl though to play young Amy, it’s just weird and confusing especially for people you haven’t read the book or seen the other movies. 1994 version will always be superior

Florence Pugh is vastly superior to the others actors in this film. She makes them all totally irrelevant next to her.

Just rewatched this movie tonight, I can’t believe how easily missed Amy and laurie’s romance is, I wish there was more of it in Greta gerwig’s adaptation

I hate everything about this version except for the fact that they set up the Any & Laurie twist so much better

Thank you so so much! I want to make an edit of Amy and Laurie but it takes ages to download the movie and screen record scenes after trying to find them. This helped me sooo much. It's really difficult to find the exact scenes. Thanks again!!

There was a TV version in the 70s that really played up Amy as a hateful, spiteful creature. In that one, she basically took Laurie away from Jo and was smug about it. I'm glad they no longer do that in LW adaptations. She was totally unlikeable in that version.

I don’t like Amy personality, she was the less caring sister in the family, she do what she wanted to do , no matter if she hurts her sister , i was always scared to have a personality like her , the point the I can’t understand, how she can marry a person she thought her sister were in love with ? When I watched that film I spent the whole night thinking what if I was Joe what if I was in a position like Amy , is loving Lauri is a good choice ? Please tell me your thoughts,

As a bratty blonde bubbly little girl named Amy who read about a blonde bratty bubbly girl named Amy, I felt very called out. So the fact she marries Laurie in the end soothes my inner 10 year old soul just a little bit.

In the book, Jo doesn't try to win Laurie back. She was firm in her decision. I think the movie made her more relatable to those of us who have had to make hard choices but it makes less sense than the book. I love their first honest conversation they have after Laurie marries Amy in the book and it resolves so many things. It felt like things slipping back into place rather than feeling awkward.

I guess the reason why I couldn’t fully be pro Amy and Laurie was because the chemistry between Jo and Laurie (Saoirse and Timothee) was through the roof.

My favorite film version of Little Women (overall,) is the 1994 version. HOWEVER, this version is the best by FAR when it comes to portraying the Amy/Laurie relationship. It shows how the two really are in love and are meant to be together. In every other movie version, their romance is underdeveloped, making it seem rushed and like it's coming out of nowhere. I always shipped Amy/Laurie since I read the book as a child. But every movie version added fuel to the Jo/Laurie pairing and left out the development of Amy/Laurie. Plus, the guy who plays Laurie is gorgeous! (So is Christian Bale, but I always felt like he was too old for the role of Laurie.)

Being second choice and loving someone new are two completely different things. A second choice is someone you choose to get over the first person you loved. Loving someone new is loving a person because you see how good they are for you, much more than the first one could ever be. Falling inlove again is not a bad thing and shouldn not be perceived as such. As long as the person make you better and makes you feel your best self, that is someone you should not let go.

Jo didn’t love him that way, Amy did. Laurie thought he lived Jo that way because he didn’t know any better, but it turned out he didn’t love her that way either. He did love Amy that way though. And that’s why their pairing makes sense even if it doesn’t follow the standard fairy tale ending

I feel like it makes sense that Laurie wouldn't love Amy at first. When they first meet, she's 12 and he (along with Jo) is 15. We can't see it visually in the movie because the actors are adults and play their younger selves, but it would be SO WEIRD for him to like her back if he was 15 (the age of a high school sophomore) and she was twelve (the age of a SEVENTH GRADER). He can't see her as a romantic option until he meets her again as adults, when a three year age gap is exponentially more normal. If Jo had been Amy's age when they met, he never would have fallen for her.

I haven't watched the previous LW movies nor have I read the book. But, from whatever I could gather from this movie was- Amy was not the villian, nor did she do anything to get hate. Frankly speaking she and Beth are my favorite (Amy a little more hehe). Amy was the realest character; when she said "I knew I would marry rich and I am not ashamed of it", my love for her solidified- she is a very strong and unapologetic character and I love how she saw the world for it is and knows that love isn't everything and how hard it is out there. I am not saying I don't like Jo, but it was frustrating how she saw everyone else as the villian of her story and how egoistic she can be. Anyways, this movie is one of my favourite movies, and I'll die for Florence 🥺❤️
