On this channel I focus on getting the best possible results, in both photo and video, with gear that you can afford. I use the EVF a lot in streetphotography, I like to frame my pictures that way. And yes you can definitely tell that people are aware if you do that, lots of people look directly into your lens, some anxious, some in their own thoughts, some smiling. I have noticed a lot less negative or anxious looks if I take a tripod with me, set it up at a nice scene and fish for people to walk through. People tend to ask you (in a positive way) what you are doing when they see that tripod and camera, so if you like social interaction this is a bonus. You can take pictures with a phone all day, nobody will look at you. Take pictures with a camera and lots of people will notice you.
I love this channel, this man has so much integrity, I’ve been here for years now, I’ve never seen this guy shill for anyone. It’s so much fun to get amazing results with gear that costs 1/10th of my pro gear, also every time someone buys a used our planet is that much more sustainable! Literally doing gods work lol
I look at cameras as tools. I own both MFT and full frame. The EM1 mkii body is about the same size as my Z7 but the lenses are a fraction of full frames. When I want to maintain a low profile like at a concert or street photography, I'll use the MFT. When Image quality is more important, especially when cropping landscapes, I find the high-resolution full frame to be far superior. If I'm going to take simple snapshots of my grandkids, I'll use my smartphone. Different tools for different jobs. I got a kick out of your old men comment. You said that with a straight face.😂
I bought the Portkeys Pt5 and for some reason I keep getting a weird noise only when the monitor is connected to my zv-r10 camera. I have no idea why :/ I power it via usb but it doesn't seem to be the reason since if i remove the hdmi connection and just leave the camera powered, there is no background noise. The moment i reconnect the camera via hdmi i get the noise again. It's like a low humming sound, but very noticeable. I am using an external XLR mic connected to a console and set the zv-e10 gain level to 1. Everything works fine till i connect the portkeys monitor, when I get this noise again. anyone facing sth like this ?
Hi Mark, I've been using the Canon R10 and the stabilization is just horrific. I was recently shooting with the 24-105 RF lens, with stabilization turned on, digital IS OFF, and it has a very strange IS problem. The camera starts to TRACK the object in the image, instead of stabilizing against hand movement. For example, I'm filming someone pressing a gas pedal, holding the camera very steady, and when the pedal is pressed and released, the image moves back and forth, along with the pedal. I'm not moving the camera, but the IS system tracks it, even though it's supposed to be optical IS. Have you encountered this? The only way to fix it, is to turn IS off completely, not even on the lens. Even my old Canon T7i with the cheap kit lens it came gave me better results. I'm surprised I'm not finding more videos about how useless this camera is when it comes to filming anything hand-held.
no problem finding the lens for the Fuji X series in either US or Canada Amazon. For the Fuji it is 50mm or 75 mm equivalent. For those doing a lot of portraits it might be a worthy lens -- Can. $485.00. Being retired for 25 years, no longer a wedding photographer, its use for me would be very limited. I rather enjoy using the Viltrox 27 mm f 1.2 but of course it is more expensive.
Hey mark need your utmost help . I bought a6600 recently i need a lens now for it as later i can take zoom lens with f2.8 . But for now i need a lens which will reliable and useful afterwards buying 17 70 tamron lens too. Please recommend me some of your best lenses in ultrabudget. I do versatile photography landscapes, wildlife, nature for portraits you suggested me TTartisians 56mm f1.4 is it good to go or you have more recommendations please help
The X100 is for 35mm equivalent street portrait photography. It's known as the poor mans Leica because the still image quality is amazing. This camera is useless for anything else and cannot realistically be compared interchangeable lens cameras or a phone camera.
The people that are buying micro four thirds in 2024 are buying used GH5s and older bodies. Those cameras have went up in value over the past few years even after reaching their lowest point during covid. It's one of the best mounts to adapt vintage glass to as well. Comparing micro four thirds to Harley Davidson is a real head scratcher 😂
This is 2 yrs ago but i'm glad i'm able to stumble upod this. Very helpful specially the compression, I noticed it while taking portraits but didn't really put much attention to it. Now it all makes sense.
The E-P7, OM5, E-M10iv are not sold in North America, but are everywhere else around the world, notably Europe, on the grounds that americans do not like small cameras and they will not sell. Whilst it is true that the USA is not such a big camera market, I fear that this is a mistake as the E-PL7 and GX9 are some of the top selling cameras in Japan.
Hi mark i bought a6600 body today but need a lens with it can you suggest me which ultra budget lens should i start with . As per your suggestion sigma 18 55 f2.8 and tamron 17 70 is out of my league now . I need a ultra budget lens for now and later when i buy the tamron 17 70 so it should still rely to me . Please suggest a lens that will long last and after switching to 17 70 2.8 is shouldnt fell why do i bought this
I walk up to them, then ask them politely, if I can take their photo. Usually they say yes - ignoring the standard comment " dont break your lens!" . Never had a problem.
The thing I wish to see on gfx 100 is firmware with low res raw, 100mp is pure overkill for my purposes and i wish it could bind 4px areas in 1px. I guess it could be done via firmware. It also could boost fuji 100 sales because number 50 series owners dont wish to upgrade due to huge 100 series raws, it also hard to edit.
Hi! I’m currently using a Behringer XM8500 microphone, and I’m debating whether to buy an M-Track Solo or a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen as my audio interface. I’m aiming for clean, noise-free audio. Which one would you recommend for long-term use? Or should I consider upgrading to the Shure MV7 instead? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
@@peanutburg1778 I got the TTA 27/2.8 AF last year for Fuji and it’s amazing. I wanted something similar to the Canon EF-M 22/2. So far, it’s amazing. Couple it with a body that supports IBIS and you’re even more protected when there’s a lack of light. I also have the Tokina 23/1.4 AF for Fuji and it’s great! Got it over the Viltrox cuz of official support (firmware and corrections) and supposed better performance. Sigma was too expensive. Anyway the 30-33/1.4 appear good from Tokina/Sigma/Viltrox but require $200-350 most of the time. Just get the TTA 27/2.8. If you need landscape corner to corner perfection, get the lens in the video or step up to something else for more money.
Hi mark need your help. Justed purchased a6600 body as per your suggestion. Now i have a very low budget to buy the lens can you give me good recommendations on lenses please . One zoom lens. Which will be versatile so as per ypur suggestion there are "Sigma 18-50 mm f2.8" ,"Tamron 17-70 mm f2.8" . But they are bit out of my budget now searchin them in used marked lenses. If you have any more recommendation please tell a zoom lens. Now i need a portrait lens. A landscape lens and which can do astro also. Waiting for your bestest recommendations.
Something that modern photographers don't understand is the concept of "range focusing" (you touched on it a bit). This is what one of the greatest street photographers of all time did (HC-B). He shot with a Leica hanging from his neck, set at the aperture he wanted. He knew the range of focus that aperture provided within the confines of film and shutter speed, and he maneuvered himself into that space to take the photo. He rarely had the camera at his eye. Modern lenses no longer have the range scale on them... sad. Your Tip #6 reminds me of one of my favorite images of all time by Fan Ho. Enjoyed the presentation a lot, but perhaps a history lesson would help too.
Thanks for the video, it's cool. One thing I will mention is some of the vintage lens manufacturers actually produced their own glass for their lenses. With the best ones the chemical composition of some glass gives amazing colour rendition and certain, unique looks. While the modern Chinese lenses are well corrected and quite sharp they often look quite sterile and similar in comparison. Some of the old glass is mildly radioactive too, usually having a yellow tint.
The MKE-600 sounds pretty nice. And they're only $329 right now with all of the accessories included. While the MKH-50 definitely sounds better, I'm not sure it sounds four times better.
