I'm confused. What is the difference between Marlin 7 Gen 3 and the Marlin 8 Gen 2, which I own? I usually do city riding and bike trails. I think I purchased the wrong bike.
@@betterdays123 I am not a testing specialist so I can't tell you which one has the most protection. Both the MIPS and the Wavecell have helmets that test well on the Virginia Tech scale which has been accepted as the go to for helmet rating from most brands.
@@newunderthesun7353 this not a hardcore MTN bike, but it will handle any XC trail. I would consider shopping at another store if that is what the employee told you, or talk to the manager/owner of that store.
@@calicycles1998 It was on Closeout, 2024 model on sale for $500. Last one in any of the Trek stores in my state. Manager told me the fork and brakes would not last 3 months unless all I did was use it for a commuter. I told him I wanted it for forest preserve roads and some single track along the river, he told me it would not last the season. Must have been saving it for someone else, went back the next day and it was gone.
I have never ridden the Scott so I can't give you an answer. I would go with the bike from the shop that will give you the best service after the sale.
You would just need to order a fork with the right spec for the the bike. It can be done but if you are looking at shocks I would look at the Marlin+ instead of the Verve+
Seems all the bikes uses the same components but what I'm trying to see is the "paint and frame" that sets bikes apart. How does the bike look outside?
How much of the total weight do the wheels make up? The SL6 is supposed to weigh around 8.1 kg. Could the SL5 also have this weight with better wheels or even under 8 kg?
I like new tech and this is an interesting upgrade but always surprised the weight is still around 20lbs. That’s not heavy but my Gunnar Sport has steal frame and fork with complete bike weight of 20.7lbs.
@@acckids I get it, the weight of new bikes get me too. I had an Aluminum 2017 Emonda Alr fully built , pedals and cages weighing in at 16.3 lbs. It's tough to wrap my mind around new bike weights when a $7000 bike still weighs 19lbs.
That’s a micro shift cassette in the rear. Gotta swap that to the Shimano. I made them do that ASAP. What’s the actual weight at whatever size that is? Because that’s definitely not a medium.
@@calicycles1998thanks for reply :) I have a bike with 105 di2 so I am thinking to use my di2 groupset, sell the 105 mecanic and the frameset of the other bike OR sell the complete bike I have and buy the SL6
