this is an acid flashback. my dad's office was right on wacker. 68 old town was happening. this flick is some weird low budget, drive in b schlock, but its great!
Does anyone remember a head shop store in Old Town in the late 60s who was owned by a 'Richard' and sold posters and had someone telling fortunes (astology) sitting at a table by the entrance? Very close to Piper's Alley. I'm writing about the era. Thanks!
Great movie I just watched the whole movie. My favorite was when the got those picture paintings and sat on the steps as they dried. Then the motorcycle picked up that chick at the end! It was epic!
I understand, but I edited this movies down to include the only Old Town scenes … that’s what I wanted as well. The rest of the movie is interiors and outside scenes from somewhere else entirely, like LA area
The one scene standing in front of the popcorn machine and the up down tobacco shop my mother was downstairs working at that time Lupe and we lived Wells on North avenue where Walgreens is at now.
Why not just post the entire movie? --The whole movie was posted by someone else on 3/14/22 but the picture quality is terrible and it's not in widescreen, like this is. This is widescreen and looks way better, but it's condensed to 9 min. Sure, it's a lousy movie, but so what? That's the fun of it. Post the whole movie anyway.
*IMHO, WGN did it far better.* Reason: PDJT wanted leaders of other nations to put their countries (including Iran and DPR Korea) first, with solidarity.
My mother in law was the babe walking down the stairs in Old Town Chicago Scene at 5:30. We're going nuts over here. She used to model with Karen Black at the time and said she was pretty cool. Rad stuff.
What a delightful discovery! I always wonder when seeing these old films and photos of Chicago years ago if I might see a friend or relative or even myself. It's so neat you found your mother-in-law!
Funny I just asked that question on a Facebook Chicago Old Town group---I was an extra in that scene, waiting with my "date" at the head of the line. Scene took all day to film , way maybe a m inute on film. Now question is answered.
The Singapore math book is just one piece of the puzzle. You need to look at their whole eco system. Government, ministry of education, teachers, tuition, after school care for weaker students, parents involvement, private tuition, the society, and funding investment in training.
That perky blonde gal with her clean white gloves must not be one of the "runaways", looking like that. Must just be Dewey, the guy, who left his folks back home in the country someplace.
So our math teachers don't know enough math to figure out the new methodology? How is it we have time to teach in a futile way, but we don't have the time to switch to an effective way? Don't we all have the same amount of time, in years of school at least, here and there? As I understand the teacher who made the point we can't change because of the time, it's impossible to allocate school hours so we must continue to lag behind.
Never heard of the movie before; it was truly awful. It was like a train wreck, I just couldn’t stop watching. In 1965-66 I thought Old Town was the coolest hippy place in the whole world.
It was I remember 1969-71. It was filled with college kids and cool shops, like Wicker park today. This film hardly shows a fe establishment's. The evenings and weekends is when it really came alive.
Columbus,OH also had a similar, _single_ structure like that. Essentially the lower half of one of those buildings. Today's building architecture is devoid of such style.
Totally agreed. These guys opened the door and drove out of the garage. This was Chicago of the SIXTIES, Fun and more Fun. These were not garage bands, every one of them had top 40 hits some even number 1 hits in the nation.
Larry Paul What? Really? Wow, please do tell more about La Piazza and your parents!!! What's the history of the place? Related to any other pizza places? Do you have any other photos?
