Found this video 6 or 7 year ago when we locked our keys in the car at Wal-Mart and they didn't sell wire hangers. It's always our go-to when we lock ourselves out of the car and we've perfected it so good it don't take no time. Thank you for posting this video.
that's right... you are better off grabbing a hangar and a screw driver than trying to figure out a boy scout complex that is worthless to even try because of who is showing the video
Its 2023 and boy oh boy did this help me. Thank you so much. Ive tried this before but this video gave me the inspiration to actually give it an honest try. Last time i locked my keys in the car with the engine running 😢..ended up using the wedge and wire hanger trick to roll the window down. This time the car was off, gift/curse. Had to try something different and this was it
It works! I have an old 2008 Chevy HHR knock around car, put maybe 600 miles a year on it. The car is notorious for lock problems and it only has one exterior keyed lock. I usually don't even lock it but yesterday I hit the door locks, didn't pull the drivers door know up like usual and went out today unable to get into couldn't. Was about to call AAA when my sweetheart found this RU-vid. We took a length of twine and following your instruction had the car unlocked in about 2 minutes. Simple. Thanks for the lesson. Now I think I'll carry my twine in my pocket when I drive this car. Took a photo but can't post it here.
I know this is an old video but I locked my keys in my car yesterday so first thing came to my mind was the coat hanger but after watching these string videos I thought I'd give it a try and to my amazement it took me two tries and it worked perfectly so I guess you learn something new at any given time. PS I used a string from my lug boots
I’ve actually used this method successfully myself. But I’ll admit that the first time I did it it took me a half hour. I didn’t think it was that bad for my fist attempt. But as it was a very hot day, my wife wasn’t happy it took that long to get her out of my truck.
Great video for anyone with locks on the top door panels. But if the lock is located flush on the side panels near the door latch it won't work. Either way this is an awesome video!
I got it.. I just need a longer string. Locked my keys in my car at work on my lunch break. Work from 6:30-5pm.. I just want to leave already.. I tried a shoe lace and got mad close. Just isn’t long enough to reach the lock
Anyone that has a new car and wants to get in pry open the hood rip out the battery then break the window reconnect the battery and start the car manually
You are a lifesaver! Bought my first car last year. This morning I locked the keys in the car after starting it. Tried the tape trick... woupdnt stick. Tried prying the window down with a spatula no go. Then I remembered this trick. Ran inside got some cord and got the door unlocked in about a minute. I let out the biggest whoop you ever heard. I was amazed how easily it worked. Only needed a simple slipknot, none of that fancy stuff
Believe it or not I learned this from breaking bad and the crazy part is after learning that the next morning the battery on my car was dead and I couldn’t unlock it with a key or anything so I used this trick!
I did something similar. If you can't get it out with a hanger. Take a string and wrap it down a hanger. All the way down to the hook of the hanger. Now to make it tight yo have to loop know it on the hook of the hanger and on the opposite end to need a tight slackless knot. That you just put the hanger in the window(you'll need a screwdriver to pop it up) aim the hanger at the handle and get the loop on the end around the handle. Once it's on and around it you can just pull. It'll come right open.
Yeah it works, couple of years ago a friend has borrowed me his car and the was locking herself every time you closed the door so if you didn`t have the keys on you then locked out, so I have looked up some videos on how to open the door and not this video but this method worked for me without breaking anything :) also it took me like 4-5 mins in total at first try. Good method if you have a car where the locker is visible and not hidden in the door.
