I understand the love around killzone 2 and I agree it’s good a masterpiece but killzone 3 will always be my favourite eben favourite game ever as it was my first killzone and shooter ever to play and little me was blown away by the game.

Fully agree, the two sides are trapped in a cycle of revenge that created the victimisation that allowed Scolari's fascism to flourish. I know there some out there who would question the logical leap of allowing the Helghast to settle on Vekta, but consider the sheer weight of guilt the Vektan government would feel about the Terracide. It's possible that the voters demanded nothing less than a magnanimous peace and generous resettlement programme. Shadowfall handled the issues at hand as well as it could. I like to think Sinclair's death would at least create a pause in the conflict. The abrupt, vague endings of the series are something I like, they give space for us to think about how we got to this point, and what could come next.

I came on youtube today to watch your retrospective. I did watch the other essay you referenced but it wasn't what I was after; he focused far more on gameplay when I'm here for the politics. Killzone left a lasting impression for me and I often reminisced about it, turning the message over and over in my mind. Brian Cox's performance was a big reason why I remembered it so clearly. Baby sociopath that I was never regretted using the flamethrower but in the I recognised that the Helghast had been swept up following a charismatic leader who fostered a deep sense of victimhood. That same victimhood became a thirst for revenge that only intensified with the nuking of Pyrrhus. Watching the end of Killzone 2, the message was clear, our victory was also a failure, somehow the Helghast had more ships, and the war was far from over. I look forward to continuing this conversation in part 2.

Welp, 4 years later, and we finally got the NightDive remaster of Turok 3: Turok With a Vengeance. Still a jolly good time. The only thing left was either Rage Wars or Evolution... But I wanted Evolution to be a full-blown remake like what they did to System Shock.

The only way the Helghans and Vectans to make peace is if Earth and ISA become a oppressing force (most probably resource war) and make the Helghans and Vectans combine their forces to beat the forces of Earth.
id love to see a remake of Evolution, being the only turok game ive ever played (and will ever play boomer shooters dont interest me no matter the concept), id love to see it just fully redone, but still follow what little story it offered and expand upon that, as well as making it coherent. the idea of the multiverses sewer is a fascinating idea, where random shit from random places just get spewed out, creating a strange, but hyper diverse culture among the people inhabiting it. outside of that, can you imagine its level designs with modern hardware? they could make those pterosaur sections REALLY fucking cool. not to mention expand on weapon variety, and enemy variety as well. instead of only fighting dinosaurs and sleg, you can encounter a 3rd faction of humans who just dislike both sleg and good guys, leading to a cool 3 way war.
