Distorted single coil really suck on riffing.. But sound good on leads or cleans stuff.. Humbucker have punchy sound on distorted riffing, but lack of high end also more dark too.. Both good for it's path..
This is a really bad thing to do actually. You’re going to mess up your tendon in your thumb and eventually will not able to use it. What’s better is to use the barre chord and learn to transition with ease. Shortcuts lead to things being cut, don’t be a cheap player, be better.
Only problom with that is when your thumbs over the side of the guitar you cant stretch as far however if you meet your thumb with your middle finger under the neck it will help you stretch farther
Tbh, I think humbuckers are more brighter then single coils. Single coils are cool but humbuckers stand out more and have that nicer tone in the guitar itself.
like other people have said, extensions/the next chord in the progression might make this a better choice for a song. There are many ways to play the same notes on the guitar.
