The Florence Academy of Art is a community of artists brought together from across the globe by a shared vision, a common aesthetic and the desire to communicate beauty and meaning in painting and sculpture. The human figure is at the heart of our work. We come from different countries, cultures and education, and are all at different stages of our careers. Some are students. Others are taking their first steps towards building careers as practicing artists. Some are already there. Our journeys started at our studios in Florence, Sweden, or New York. Each of these amazing places nurtured our individual visions and gave us the skills to reach our full artistic potential.
Hi. Please tell if I join the course in Winter semester, do I get to join for 1 year course from Winter sem? Or I am eligible for Winter and Summer Sem only?
why would you work on your background when you have your model there? and yes, I can see how that would be important if the background booked anything like the background .....🧐
Du er en fantastisk skulptør, Thor … I really do hope that 2024 will be the year where the bronze-statues (all 3 members of Olsen-banden) are placed on Tingstedet in Valby (København / Copenhagen)❣️💪🏻🤞🏻
45:24 - there is a nice list on Wikipedia of Holbein drawings, often paired with the finished painting. Go there and look up 'List of portrait drawings by Hans Holbein the Younger'.
Kathleen’s snobby comment about the young artist “copying” is freaking bonkers and such obvious ageism. Several of those artists were taking photos of their sitters to reference (there was a whole clip montage with the voiceover “technology can help speed up the process”); it’s not like it was someone else’s photograph from another event or something. She took a picture of the live sitter so she wouldn’t have to get up every 30 seconds to double check his freaking eyelash placement. Kathleen saw a teenager using her phone and got an attitude about it. I bet she spent the rest of the day complaining about gen z’s addiction to phones instead of acknowledging that modern teenagers are just as capable of talent, with modern tools, as old artists with old tools 🙄😤
