Welcome to the Maybe God Podcast! On this channel, we tackle the biggest and most controversial questions people are asking about God, religion, the meaning of life, and the modern-day culture wars. Instead of simply arguing about who's right and wrong, however, we like to give people who are asking such questions a platform to tell their stories.
Our host, Eric Huffman, is the Lead Pastor of The Story Church in Houston, TX, and is the author of two books ("40 Days of Doubt" and "Scripture and the Skeptic"). A preacher's kid who was raised in the Bible Belt, Eric renounced his core Christian beliefs for more than a decade until God brought him to his knees in dramatic fashion.
Since his return to Christianity, Eric has continued to ask hard questions - and to encourage others to do the same - in pursuit of the Truth. At Maybe God, we believe that questions lead to deeper conversations, deeper conversations lead to true stories, and true stories lead to a better world.
Materialistic atheism without an appreciation of quantum physics & the vast dynamic complexity of 'simple cells' is pure unreasoning dogma. Kudos to this guy for his humility before the facts.
It's funny how christians always lie. Even to the extent of creating these fake stories of fully educated "atheists" who "never heard a quote the bible". Of course people raised in the Anglo-Saxon world know details about the christian ideology, heavenly gate, paradise, Jesus... There was a video recently about another "atheist" scientist who became a christian, but they made a mistake of mentioning his name, so I looked up his wiki page... And of course he was raised as a christian and got his education in theology. Not an atheist, but a christian playing a role for a video.
These visits from Jesus in our dreams are common and is truly Jesus. The old Testament besides it's survival lessons, it lhistorical lineage, is a introduction to God and his personality. We can find this in the first book called Genisis. We can see how God shows himself early on and mid through he speaks with only his voice while the recipient is awake, until he starts to communicate in dreams. It is apparent that God is showing us who he is and how communication with will be done. God is great and is all.
The only people having these dreams are those who were raised in a culture saturated with christian mythology. Because they know it since childhood, have heard stories about paradise, Jesus, heavenly gate, parting of the sea, burning bush, crucifixion... Meanwhile buddhists have dreams concerning their mythology and muslims have their own. It's impossible to be an educated American and not be familiar with christian traditions.
He really should understand math better ... We can't calculate the probability of something we don't fully understand. That's what's impossible. And a perfect being will mathematically always be less probable than a good enough cosmic seed.
If we cannot calculate the probability of something we don't fully understand then how do we know a perfect being will mathematically always be less probable than a good enough cosmic seed?
@@questioneveryclaim1159 Good enough will always be an approximation, perfection is exact. Basic math tells us that no matter how small the approximation is, it will always be larger than exact.
Selflessness to believe God loves you and 3.1 million children dream of food which they never received, before the age of 5 and die!! But this guy is special and God is mysterious with everything else?? BS!!
He’s not laying out an authoritative argument in favor of God or Jesus’ divinity, he is simply sharing an experience that led him to believe, which as he stated was not a unique event but was tied to other experiences he had like researching and asking questions to believers.
when I saw Jesus in a dream He was tending to this exotic lush garden and he had 2 white birds on His shoulder! He turned to look at me and then turned away, I tried to follow but the whole scene dissapeared! I love His invention of Birds, they are such characters! He knows I love birds!
So sorry for the loss of your friend’s child. You have my deepest sympathy. Just wanted to ask why did this video say that you were an Atheist and what evidence convinced you that there is a god?
You don’t need to call it god I respect that you found a path that works for you but it’s not the only way to live a blessed life walking with god just means a good head on your shoulders sadly most people and we all recognize this just don’t have the will or the way all the better to you tho mate
Maybe a few religious do. And I sincerely want there to be an afterlife. But the science at best says NDE occur but there is a biological explanation. Doesn’t mean that there is no afterlife. Nor does it discount a higher power. But it is curious that this flimsy argument is the best evidence available.
because gods are imaginary. Christians love to makeup excuses why their god fails so miserably. They add things llike "but but the answer to your prayer may be no, not yet, or you are giving something "better". Curious how jesus never made excuses like that, and says that all true believers will get any prayer answered, with what is asked for and quickly.
if you put things in to perspective (size of the universe, number of galaxies, size of earth, people that have lived and died etc) these type of superstitious claims sound so meaningless.
In truth, nobody transitions in the first place, you cannot, it is not possible - you just reject and destroy your own body. So the idea of 'de-transitioning' is just the realisation that you've been duped. Call it de-transitioning if it helps you psychologically to get back on the right path but in reality you were always you.
I think Higher Love is a better phrase. When Christ is obedient to death on a cross, it is total surrender to a Higher Love. There is most certainly a God who loves Chloe and all of us sacrificially and who is willing to dig us out of any mess we find ourselves in.
Chloe, you are brave for telling your story and I hope that you continue. But to believe in god because there are so many things we can't explain is a BAD reason to believe in a god. As Neil deGrasse Tyson puts it, if you insist on inserting god into everything you don't understand, then your god becomes an ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance.
But what is bad and what is good? Where does the standard of that come from? If everything is relative then something being "bad" is just an opinion of your worldview. Or there is objective good and objective bad.
@@Arvak777 "If everything is relative then something being "bad" is just an opinion of your worldview."- yeah, that's exactly what it is. Even if you're religious that's what it is. There are about 10,000 distinct religions in the world and you thinking that you just so happened to pick (more than likely you did not. You probably didn't go through the doctrines of thousands of religions, analyze their preaching or what have you and say yep, this is the one. You were likely born into it or at very least heavily influenced by those around you.) the right is 100% still just your opinion. Even if you feel like you're arguing from an objective basis for morality because of what your religion dictates it is still, by definition, just an opinion that you happened to adopt... Or more like it adopted you.
@@Arvak777 I take the Sam Harris view that morality can be objective. You don't need people from 2000 years ago to tell you what is right and what is wrong.
This oerson just wanted to make the best decision for her own life, and to let other kids know that they can do the same thing if that's what they want, and yet still insane wokesters have to aggressively troll her. Worst oart is how predictable it is. We all know now how completely disgusting the woke have become.
what Chloe Cole doesn't want you to know is that she is not unique. three are plenty of detrans people who got a lot further than she did, and are still honest enough to turn down the money and attention they would have gotten being a token victim like her. detrans doesn't mean anti-trans. it just means cis, and extra sure this time. how many children did Chloe Cole save today with this routine? how many tomorrow? when do the children start getting saved, Chloe? the real children you care about, Chloe?
Everybody has their own life purpose and cause. This is her journey. Not everyone has to take it. Also “cis” is being bantered about a LOT like a slur. Something to reflect on. It’s odd that individuals in their default biological state have to take in the prefix “cis.” It comes across as an attempt to other one group rather than include another.
Sorry but where is any of this happening? I raised 3 kids in one of the Gayest cities in North America and never heard anyone say puberty is an option or seen anyone encourage 12 year olds to transition.
it's happening where it always happens, in Vaguifornia at Moral Panic University where the speaker Dennis Maincharacter got shouted at by a black nonconforming otherkin transabled pro abotion activist mob of strawmen. that is to say, it happens at one time, at one place, somewhere you didn't see, and you just missed it. it doesn't ever actually have to happen if you can't prove it didn't.
@@Violet-de7rw Its pretty funny/sad how the hatred is so strong yet they can never get the basic facts straight. Anti-trans has become a cult of its own.
@@moraldilemma1159Dang, it’s almost like cross-sex hormones have an effect on the body that actually makes it really hard to tell what’s going on. Crazy. Who could have imagined that?
I dont get the weird double standards with bodily autonomy. Pregnancy not only vastly changed someone bkdy but creates a second one with ethical considerations of their own. The detransition rate is tiny, but focussing on detransition rates to determine the viability of transituon is like asking ex gays about whether same sex marriage should be legal. You've poisoned the well. And if teenagers can consent to medical procedures, the fact they are trans shouldnt create a seperaye category of lower bodily autonomy.
While I do feel sorry for this individual, the truth is that, from all current data, the rate of people that regret transitioning is less than 2%. That's less than tattoos.
Have someone mis”gender” a transgender and you’ll see how fast the facade crumbles. The entire trans ideology is based on immoral science from “famed sexologist” John money who sexually tortured twin boys. If you suffer from gender dysphoria it’s most likely caused from underlying conditions
That’s the ones that self report, and that data is from a while ago. There are many detransitioners coming out now, and more and more happening every day. Look at what’s happened in the UK. They have done a lot of research lately, and that research has caused the medical establishment there to recommend the complete cessation of child transition. You might want to do a little more research.
@@stefmyt5062 Yep, many reports coming from the U.K., the fact that many children transitioning have done so only in the last few years, and the fact that regret takes time to set in. You can’t possibly know the full extent of any of this yet, but the fact that more and more detransitioners are coming out and testifying every day, and the FACT that the U.K. has very recently advised that all puberty blockers and hormones be immediately stopped is enough for anyone with a modicum of sense to come to the conclusion that this stuff is a tragedy in the making. If you don’t already know about the U.K. shutting this stuff down, then you need to do a little more research yourself.
@@stefmyt5062 You might want to look up the Cass review in the U.K. There are a lot of other things coming out all the time, and we will not know the full extent of all this for a number of years because it has only started in earnest over the last few years. Regret takes time to set in, and this stuff is being done to children.
