Welcome to the Getty Museum RU-vid channel. We're pleased to share a selection of videos about the collection, art-making techniques, conservation projects, exhibitions, and related programming.
This is so great! Also, wanted to congratulate you on promoting "Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles at the Getty Center", I really love all their work but their hit "We're Coming For Your Children!" is my favorite, well done on being so inclusive!
Excellent presentation by people who open a new universe in reading of the only available papyri collection with literature texts. The significance and methods for unwrapping and reading the texts are beyond imagination. Thank you.
It is fascinating to realize that the ancients were such sophisticated thinkers and creators, and so modern, so much like us. The rebellion of the objects, the descent to the underworld and then a renewal or birth, the moon goddess cycle, etc. are all psychological themes and issues that all of us in 2024 deal with. The beauty of their art is also astounding.
I don’t know why this is recommended for me to watch because I usually watch urban ghetto stuff on RU-vid 😂😂😂 but hey 🤷🏾♀️ this was a good 2 hours of my time.
Never heard as Rome being described as having "filled the whole world with the domination of its own virtue" LOL, wow, the mind of the colonizer never changes. Thanks for these wonderful insights
Fantastic! Thank you for sharing this with the public P.S. I wouldn't call the way men wrote about Perpetua "stripping her from her humanity" because it implies something which isn't true. They wrote about her the way they would about any man they admired, making her superhuman and less relatable true, but not stripped of humanity in the sense she was less than a human. All accounts of saints, regardless of gender, sound like this, it isn't a male vs female thing, but divine vs human. Don't think it's fair to equate this with other contexts where men wrote about women as less than human or they didn't write about them at all.
Emma, 15 years on youtube through varied topics from Astronomy to Paleontology and ths would have to be one of the best, most informative, inspiring talks I've Heard. Kudos.
@51:23 I hadn't heard of any finds with writing on them before, but here there is, at least, a bit of writing, a shard with two proto-canaanite letters. Together with most other writing on papyrus, which decayed, this might help to explain how a powerful kingdom like Israel could still function.
There had been considerable archaeology done well before Mussolini and his fascists wanted Roman propaganda imagery fo use Slightly strange allocation of credit by the speaker
Hmmm, very interesting to see all these ppl living somewhat in harmony, while having different gods. More surprisingly, the jews that seem to not have knowledge of the strict observance of the Torah. It says NOT to build any Temple outside of Jerusalem, but to see them build one to Yahu and that the jews in Jerusalem helped to fund it, shows there was either: no Torah, or no strict observance of it.
передаём спасибо за знания Гоголеву Дмитрию Александровичу, вы замечательно и очень интересно ведёте (извините что иногда опаздываем, нам стыдно честно 😅)
