IS THIS VIDEO SOME SICK JOKE? If you are going to do a video on NZ, then you need to show the country............not other countries in this video. Secondly, you want to retire here? Then you need a whole lot of cash, .............it is very expensive. Food is a shocking price, as is gas, electricity and house prices. So is petrol and compared to other countries, cars. If you have at least $US3M, yes, you can retire here comfortably. Less than that, forget it. As immigrants coming to retire, you are not entitled to superannuation and the benefits that come with that. It is a pacific island, at the bottom of the world. Yes, it is staggeringly beautiful and so much cleaner and quieter than "out there". Do not even dream of retiring here, unless you have the funds to buy a comfortable home, car and other accessories. The other alternative is, either Perth or the state of Queensland, Australia. Houses are cheaper, as is food, petrol, services. But the downside is, you have to endure the relentless heat, spiders, frogs, snakes etc. However, it is strikingly beautiful too...a different beauty to NZ. Perth's beauty............ Think of Florida and Queensland's scenery would be on par to Hawaii/California. NZ scenery is on par to Washington State//Norway/Northern California.
Just a heads up from a born Kiwi: Ignore all visuals in this video: Not even one single scene is of NZ or its people, just random stock footage, I guess. I can't comment on the visa requirements accuracy, as I don't know. Also, while NZ does have some very beautiful areas outside of the big cities, living here can be expensive. Buying a house or renting is very expensive (much cheaper away from main cities), groceries, electricity and petrol are also very expensive. Public hospitals are pretty good for extreme life-threatening emergencies, but if something is not going kill you immediately, you could be waiting months, sometimes years for treatment, as your condition worsens. If you can afford it and don't want to wait, private hospital treatment then needs to be seriously considered. NZ is not crime free, but there is less crime away from the big cities. There you are, my two cents. Basically, it is an awesome country to live in, with lots of beautiful nature not too far away - as long as you are not poor and can afford private healthcare when the public waiting lists are too long.
Thanks for the heads up. I traveled to Australia and New Zealand on a 26 day cruise. NZ is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I want to retire there. The health care info is important to know but, I don't think overall, even with the waiting it can't be worse than in the USA where millions use the E.R. as their primary care practitioner.
Australia, New Zealand. Canada came across as scary totalitarian during Covid 'emergency'. I personally would not set foot in those even as a tourist. And since I have been living in Canada for decades, I am appalled how far this country is from the one I came to to escape communism. No wonder many people are thinking of leaving as soon as possible and that includes myself.

I've been to 5 of these cities, i.e. Buenos Aires; Montevideo; Santiago; Vina Del Mar & Antigua, on vacations & liked them a lot! However, if a person wants to relocate to South America, they'd better learn conversational Spanish, to more easily integrate into their society! Also, many of these nations currencies are not accepted outside of the country, so Americans would have to leave essential money in U.S. banks, to minimize inflation!
Thailand is at the first rank ????? Why so many Expands leave Thailand currently???? Visa harassments, Taxation should be mentioned - some newcomers are desperate now, because of this and the Thai Government is always good for a surprise - mostly in order to cash up the expats!
Completely wrong on most accounts, BS!!! Vietnam does not have a retirement visa, Ecuador is rife with drug=fueled gang violence, Cypress is very expensive, both Turkey and Greece occupy the island. You do not qualify for a retirement visa in Mexico with $1000/mo. income, etc....
So, I don't understand the value of this video given that this was the advice for nearly every location: English is widely spoken in major cities & tourist areas -- where the cost of living is high. The cost of living is reasonable outside of the cities and in rural areas -- where nobody speaks English.
I live in NZ, there is no way you can live in my country for that amount of money unless you purchase a camper van and then travel. I also visit Thailand and once again, keep away from the main centers and its as cheap as chips. I cannot recommend it enough
A racist just made it to the top in the Netherlands. Hardly any Westerner will be accepted by the Japanese society. Germany has accepted 1,5 million people from Syria since 2015 and is facing an economic crisis because of a wrong industrial policy. And so on and so on. Two major phenomena have to be observed by future immigrants: No 1. the labor market and 2. the immigration laws of the desired country. Only AFTER these basic requirements are fulfilled thoughts like "pleasant, "family life" and others become relevant.
...but moving to these countries is not easy. Anyway, having lived in 5 of the countries mentioned+travelled to the others exensively: you should have put the ranking in reverse. South Korea at 18, the nordics (Including Iceland) at the top.
Clearly, the video was not researched enough. Italy has a lot of advantages: education is good, thee are social benefits and it is family friendly, but there is poverty and corruption.
I do not know how to heart a comment...but please consider yourself hearted :) and with the warmest wishes for Xmas and for 2024 (I do love Italy and I worked in the Turin area for a little while, when I was living in Switzerland where I spent 23 years. I have had the opportunity to notice that they do have excellent education in the north. No idea about the south and the food is nice) @@rayflaherty3441
Nice video, as far as it goes. Thanks for making it. I'm curious about the criteria used for determining "safest". General welfare? Crime statistics? Longevity?
Hello. I was looking into Digital Nomad Visas here and in neighboring countries, but I have learned that we would be better off applying as retired Americans. Even though I still teach online, it's only part-time. Are you retired? How did you apply as a non-EU for residency? Are you an online teacher here? Your thoughts or advice? Thank you! Dean
Even if Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Sweden all unite together as United Scandinavia makes this the best European nation of them all for a family.
Your info about Antalya Turkey is greatly off the mark. You would be luck if you can get a decent apartment in nice area for 700 dollars, utilities are around $150, which leaves you with just $150 disposable income. You need at least $2000 to live comfortably in Antalya.
I am not sure if the US is stupid or brilliant. The US pays out Social Security that is not enough to live on in the United States...at least in most desirable places. .... so, retirees go to other countries where they spend those US dollars and contribute to their economies. Also, healthcare is usually way more affordable in those other countries. So... Is the US stupid for letting all those US dollars go to enrich other countries or smart for all the money we're not spending on healthcare?
