I thought he went to Arizona State? Considering there's about 10 other things in the video I can confirm are false I'm guessing he's wrong on this as well.
You left off one of Mays' best, late in his SF career, he took a HR away and crashed into Bobby Bonds in mid-air at the chain link fence. Mays was shook-up and Bonds took the ball out of Mays' glove as Willie lie still on the warning track. Maybe the best ever!
Omg first to comment, that's literally a first. I'm a die hard Boston Red Sox fan and was at Fenway park for ceremony they did for Mariano Rivera who by the way is a `Class Act ' and a VERY RESPECTED man/player even Boston Red Sox fan love and respect this man.
Roberto was my all time favorite player, I wore #21 in his honor while playing all sports, his arm was helped developed by throwing the javelin in HS track and field, like others have mentioned as great as his play....his humanitarian efforts dwarfed any baseball accolade!
I think Bo Jackson just makes superhuman feats look so natural and easy that people underrate this throw. That man threw the ball ~370 feet on a frozen rope to get one of the faster runners in the game. It's one of the greatest plays in GENERAL that I've ever seen, more or less greatest THROWS.
Thank you for including Roberto Clemente on this list. He deserves to be there more than any player I've ever seen play this game. And it's not because he's my all time favorite, I'd tune in as kid every week just yo see Clemente make those throws. He did it almost every week. This was who I model my game after as a kid on and off the field.
RIP Roy Halladay.....I actually like to throw his windup when I practice pitching. Sort of protect the ball into the windup....almost side-armed but not quite. Makes it easy to throw sinkers. The 2-seam fastball is the most interesting pitch to me....guys will still throw it today, but I feel like it's gone a little out of style in this age of velocity and spin. I appreciate the Halladays and Maddox's of the world who weren't trying to blow it by you every time, but they wanted to make sure you couldn't make good contact on it. The art of soft contact to preserve the health of the arm is a lost art.
When I was young , people would be in awe (home and away) every time Sandy Kofax took the mound. I will be shocked if at least one of his masterpieces isnt here.
What happens when the unions have too much power.. you can’t fire the workers who don’t produce, either thru sheer laziness or just too damn stupid to do the job.
Finally the most hated MLB umpire retires!!! He is the most hated and worst umpires the MLB has ever had!!! Angel Hernandez will always go down as one of the worst and most hated umpires in history!!! I've never liked him because he has called balls that were clearly strikes and vice versa!!! Angel Hernandez doesn't deserve to have a spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame because that's how terrible and a garbage umpire he was!!! The whole entire world hates Angel Hernandez and even the MLB hates Angel Hernanadez!!! I'm just so glad and happy that garbage Angel Hernanadez will never be calling an MLB game ever again!!! To Angel Hernandez, you suck and always will suck!!! You are one of the most hated and worst umpires in the MLB!!! A garbage umpire like you doesn't deserve to have a spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame!!! Sincerely, the entire MLB community including us the fans, players, coaches and the rest of the MLB umpires!!! There I've spoken for the entire baseball community and I've spoken for the whole entire world!!! There I think I've made my point!!!
That game where ankiel had those 2 assists was nuts. Either of those would be career best plays for almost any other CF. Both in one night is just crazy
1:58 Actually in all seriousness yeah that was FANTASTIC work by the camera crew. Usually I cant even see the ball in videos from the 80s, just a grainy, white blur. But that had every angle perfect, I could actually follow and see everything clearly. I can even read a couple of the numbers on the jerseys when it holds still! Good focus lol
