In 1978, a letter in Outside’s first issue stated that the magazine was "dedicated to covering the people, activities, politics, art, and literature of the outdoors." Today, that editorial goal remains the same-if anything, it’s expanded as we continue to redefine what it means to be an outdoor recreationist. With in-depth narrative storytelling, profiles, video, and authoritative service, we explore the intersection between our lives and the natural world. We hope you find inspiration here, then take that wonder outside.
Our RU-vid channel covers the latest trends, sports, gear, apparel, athletes, places, events and competitions that makeup the outdoor lifestyle. Covering everything from rock climbing and mountaineering to backpacking, camping, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, and adventure vehicles.
Our current weekly RU-vid publishing schedule: Monday: Moves Tuesday: Staff Picks Wednesday: The 101 Thursday: Eat Like/Basics Friday: Rewilding
You start with a Trangia, because it’s versatile and good enough for everything - the best choice if You don’t know yet what kind of outdoor stuff You will end up doing. Then You get something ultralight for backpacking, a biolite for bicycle or kayak (to charge the phone while cooking), a gasoline stove for motorcycle tours (to fill up the cooking fuel at the same time as the vehicle, and to have the cooking fuel as emergency fuel for the vehicle), and You shouldn’t go on real expeditions in dangerous environments if You don’t know better than some random person on RU-vid what kind of equipment is the right choice for that kind of expedition. It’s as simple as that. Oh, and probably something cheap for car camping, because volume and weight are not at premium in a car trunk, and if it doesn’t work, You just drive to the next diner.
The better diet is what they ate 8 million years ago, before the paleo diet of our great ancestors. 8 to 12 million years ago, they ate dog dung only, and men lived to an average age of 238 years and women 293 years. Dog dung is rich in nutrients and contains everything we need. You eventually get past the taste, and after a month or two of violent vomiting, you grow used to the diet. They also walked a lot back then, on average 33,000 steps each day in the summer months and then around 18,000 steps in the winter months. The d.d.d. (dog dung diet) is also referred to as the triple d .
Well, that triple D isn't good for you either unless the dog is eating a raw diet with added vitamins. Dogs eat the same junk as humans nowadays, processed food. Good luck with your crappy diet, lol.
When you burn the end instead of tying it be real sure the melted blob is really big enough as to not be forced back through because of the cord tension. Speaking of tension you want to have just enough to hold the poles together, but no to much to make it hard to fold the poles and prematurely wear out the elasticity out of your new cord.
Everyone carries a first aid kit. Make your own. It should be handle the injuries you are most likely to encounter. Don't waste your money on the Adventure Medical Kits mountain series kits. They have good components but are heavy. Sealine waterproof bags have an orange first bag (empty) for only a few dollars. Take a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness EMT course. Learn how to make an emergency sled and practice!
for my fellow military guys out there. dont excactly follow this video! dont get me wrong its an fantastic video for regular hikers but not for the military!
Just watched a bunch of videos and this is by far the best. She's even got great music. One tip she doesn't mention is to use a clamp (Vise Grips in another video) to hold the cord while you're tying the end off so if it slips out of your hand, your not chasing the end down the last section.
What a useless video! Your subject says "how to re-waterproof". You did not explain how to re-waterproof, did not demonstrate how to re-waterproof, did not mention any DWR product by name (not even the one that you already had in front of you). Remove re-waterproof from the title so that people don't waste their time on this video.
