I remember when this video came out. It showed everyone just how bad most of TW server actually was, If you sent any top NA or EU team over there they would hit #1 easily. Sadly only a small few from there were actually good players.
This Guys Vanilla Skill Lvl was already Wotlk Gladiator . One of the best Now and best Vanilla Mage to ever play this game. Vanilla hype btw. Cant wait
Gameking and Vurtne were what I aspired to be when I played WoW, classic through WotLK. Why anyone would roll anything but mage, I could never understand; It was such a fun class to play, and there were so many crazy tricks you could pull off, especially if you threw engineering into the mix :)
+steaktastebetterpill no mentioning of Noone, Saru, Tharbad, Bebep...? oh, yeah... the Handsome Mage. gasp! almost forgot Dilir( the man with 24 solo movies lol)
+Ian-Devon Lewis I recognize most of those names as well. There were quite a few supremely skilled mage-players over the years, but these two in particular were what I personally aspired to. Faxmonkey, for instance, was certainly a competent player for his time, but beyond being a pioneer in the field of mage vs environment, there was not much noteworthy about him. Vurtne, on the other hand, was an innovator and an artist; In spite of being a fundamentally casual player at heart, he, more than anyone, understood the full potential of his class, and would make clever use of whatever tools he had access to, be that gimmicky / situational engineering items, racial skills, potions, environment or what have you. Add to that inhuman reflexes and ability to read other players´intentions... He could sometimes turn the tables where none would think it possible. Similar things could be said about Gameking. I actually recall randomly starting up a BE paladin on either Tarren Mill or Vek Nilasjh a bit into TBC, when Vurtne had supposedly quit playing WoW. And then, one day, I encountered a player that looked just like the man, and had the gear that you´d expect Vurtne to have, and who played well enough for me to think that it might be the real deal. He did go by another name, and he was purposefully ambiguous when I asked if he was in fact Vurtne. I did catch him in the act doing some typical Vurtne-things, though, like PvPing more or less naked around Area 52 and having a fair bit of success with it, and overcoming players in duels who out-geared him quite a bit. I did ask him for some tips, and one that I remember getting was something along the lines of: "I never start a duel with mana / frost shield up, because when I´m more vulnerable, I must force myself to play better and be more observant."
Excuse me? Vurtne displayed massive skill and insanity during his videos. You can't tell because youre simply a noob. Vurtne is the greatest mage of all time to have touched this game. Both him and Gameking were way ahead of their time, and had WOTLK movements at level 60. Thats 2 expansions ahead. However, because Vurtne was entertaining aswell, he got the most credit in popularizing the Mage class. So saying Vurtne didnt do anything extraordinary means you dont understand anything. Youre simply the same as everybody bringing up excuses. Vurtne was the one having bad gear. Not his enemies. Also you can't just 1v3/4 players in Vanilla in a time where Rogues and Warriors were OP, and Vurtne having going OOM during all of his fights. You have no clue about the Mage class. It took awareness, mana/health/cd management, creativity and precision, regardless of fighting bad players or not. 95% of the players now in 2018 wouldnt even be able to 1v3/4 bad players. The only Mages that can do that today are Veteran Experienced (from all the way to Vanilla) or Multi R1 mages.
