I travelled from Manchester every Friday night to roller skate there ! I couldn’t believe how fantastic it was , all the locals were so friendly with me being an outsider , I can remember the dj he was called jay and also a few more local lads ricky and co. I used to pay around £7 for use of all the facilities. But roller skating was for me mostly, and now I even have my own rink in Bolton greater Manchester .
I thought it was to expensive. It should have been all-inclusive for £10 or £15 something like that. You could have ago of two arcade games and most of you're money would be gone.
I remember going to this place average of once a week occasionally twice & like many hundreds of others really enjoyed it. I was so sad to hear it was to close down & now there is absolutely nothing but waste land there now. I have heard that they are either going to put more BLOODY HOUSES there for those who can well afford them ( none rentable all sales only ) so I've heard or some other WASTE OF MONEY THINGS!!! on that plot of land in the next year or two possibly. 👎👎👎👎😠😠😠. I just don't understand as to why it was closed down I can't remember why Maybe someone can remember as to why. Maybe something similar could be put up in its place instead of WASTING!!! money on houses when clearly there are other houses waiting for years (many of them) that could be renovated possibly at a cheaper price in other areas. It is the one thing that we lack is entertaining areas cinemas dying off due to the internet. Theatres are just filled with boring stories & play's that the young children are clearly not interested in. So they are getting very bored very quickly. The place doesn't have to have exactly the same things in it as it did before. But, I'm sure there could be plenty of ideas for it. Sod the houses or whatever 💩 they are planning to put on there & let's have a large entertaining complex back.
Remember the death slides though there's no way they'd be allowed now haha an the quaser was sick too ... This video doesn't do it justice at all pleasure island was everything 💗
It's 20 years since I went there, and such a shame that it closed down. It was nearly as good as Blackpool Funhouse, and had lots of fun on the big slides in my stockingfeet.
Hello Adam Jon from the Liverpool Echo here. Just wondering if you have the ownership/copyright of this video? Or if you don't, do you know who does? Ta mate.
used to go there 20+ years ago. The only thing outside (that I can remember) was go-karts, where I used to rule my mates, but I couldn't get the helmets to fit had to put it on as much as I could and just before I went out put it (or throw it) to the side
so many memories of this place, used to be in there practically every day at one point, and never paid to get in lol, the yellow submarine is now at john lennon airport
@@mybeautifulview used to go with nail scissors, and glue and get the wrist bands off people coming out so atleast if we had wrist band we wouldn't get chased haha
@gogleisevil Yes there was deffo go karts remember going on those few times,if u go on google maps find area it was u can see figure 8 thats the old go kart track:)
Could he be more unenthusiastic? this place was amazing but he makes it sound as exciting as tesco on a monday night. I wish they'd spent the capital of culture money on re-making this It's exactly what we need can't believe it's just 'gone'.
"Tesco on a Monday night" loving the randomness of that comment. Tesco on a Friday morning in Woolton got pretty lively when they used to have the big speakers above the veg (hidden away) and turned on the disco music. Once I heard the manager telling them off when I was in the cafe having a brew.😂 Every Friday it happened. Pleasure Island is now gone and so are the speakers😭. Depressing.
