For cost would be depending on the shop you go to. It took me upwards of 4-5 hours to do the install. Keep in mind I'm a one person shop and I also have my powder coating aspect of my business as well. A shop with multiple employees could do it quicker. But if you have the products you could budget between 400 to 1000 for labour and shop materials.
@@tricountykustomz I never expected you to answer but thanks. By any chance did you go to school to gain your knowledge on audio systems or you learned through trail and error?
@Valid.4l a little of both. Like most I started toying with car audio. Then went to mobile dynamics back in early 2000s. Worked at a few shops since. And now running my own shop.
@@tricountykustomz I want to install my amp and subs I’m just nervous about doing the wiring because the Mazda wiring harness is so short and it’s time consuming🤦🏽♂️. You have a great video so I knew I was on the right track I just got to do it.
Hey I'm looking to do something very similar to my boat. Did you have to run new wires to the stock speakers? If not how did you know they could handle the increased power output from the amp? I looked on the back of the one in the battery seat and there were no specs I could see.
@bradygrimm416 given the wire size I knew they could handle more then what was going to be going through the wiring. With most stock wiring it can handle upwards of 100 watts without issues. I didn't run new wiring to the speakers but in the video I did use the speed wire to make the harness going for a portion of the stock wiring
@georgebailey6307 thanks. I've got a soft spot for these older notch backs. Had one years ago and wish I kept it. But it needed to go to a better home who could properly repair it.

The door speakers have a much better build and in my opinion a much better frequency response over the stock factory speakers. The dash speakers while being stock I believe they have a different cross over rating giving a cleaner sound.

For the cs speakers on the door did you have to buy the frame holder for the speaker or does it come with the unit? Also did you turn off your battery?
I never disconnected the battery. For speakers like this it wasn't needed. If I was doing a full amplifier install different story. As for the speaker mount. It was a metra speaker adaptor specific for this Toyota tacoma. Metra #82-8146
They sell silicone plugs and caps if you have trouble with the plastic melting. They also sell Kapton tape to cover services. And Kapton decal washers to cover hole boses.
I've got a couple sets of silicon plugs and caps used on a daily basis lol. Thanks for help8ng with the pronouncing of it. I was going based off the customer said and I've done a few others who pronounced it like that as well.
Amazing what some powder coating and time can do for something. Jobs like this I really enjoy because I get to see life brought back into parts that could potentially have ended up in the scrap yard
