We’re Virginia Commonwealth University - the university FOR Virginia.
You will see an incredible mix of attitudes, styles and stories. Inclusion is our heartbeat and it drives us to tackle difficult challenges others can’t or won’t.
We're proud of our rankings, but they don't define us. Now - over 300,000 strong - we offer more than 200 degrees and 20 nationally ranked programs. We are Richmond's largest employer.
As one of Virginia’s top three research institutions, every student has the chance to participate in activities that result in breakthrough work. Our discoveries have led to thousands of patents and successful student startups. Our VCU Health System is dedicated to ending health care disparities. We are Richmond's top hospital and serve as a renowned training facility for future health care leaders.
We prove every day that when you come to VCU, you can become anything.
It's kind of sad to thing that a lot of the money that goes into infrastructure for actual study/research will support the few brilliant people producing meaningful advancements in art and science, but all the thousands of people who go to college just because they were told to are wasting their money on degrees that don't require this infrastructure. So, if you think about it these types of marketing videos are a way to milk more money out of the people who are less likely to see a return on investment in order to subsidize productive endeavors (and line administrator pockets).
Posting this 6 hours before you sent 3 different police forces to chemically assault students exercising their right to assemble & hold a sit in in your self-described "free speech zone" is not going to fool anyone, VCU. Alumni & students alike know you don't care about basic human decency. We're all more committed than ever to having our demands met.

I just saw the pro-choice debate that was in your university. Allowing disruption and behavior to intimidate discussions is not democratic. This enables counterproductive behavior that will not fit in law or society. You are giving the students a great disservice if you can't teach them about democracy, intelligent and healthy discussions etc.
Maybe it’s just me but Shame on VCU for robbing students the honor of walking across the stage. All that time, hard work and most importantly money spent on degree and they don’t get a chance to be individually recognized. VCU change your ceremony practice!!!
