I still affirm that Clapton's playing has grown tiresome amid his "tortured, inhibited" solo period but he sounds on another level here. He sounds terrific when there's somebody Fantastic pushing him.
Why am I not surprised! Marcus has a pulse on all musicians... I'm just learning about Kinga Glyk and have been telling everyone about her. Hopefully I'll have the chance to see her concert in the states! 😃
That kind of precise playing by Trucks for over an hour is so challenging. I know players of his caliber are accustomed to it, but that doesn't mean it's easy.
I remember going out to the farm in Juliette and partying with Warren Haines and Gene McCormick among others. I remember slipping past my hippie hatin' old man to go to 2nd Atlanta Pop down in Byron with my bad older cousin, Anthony, when I was 16. I'm sitting here in Blacksburg, Virginia bawling my eyes out. Damn.
Reach out to Warren. He and Jaimoe are the only ones still with us from the older versions of the band. I'm first from Central then Southern California. It's easy to meet a lot of people in the industry if you want to. I became very close to a wife in rehab. She took her life. Don't let that friendship slip away.
Yup! Would of loved to see this show.... Caught Gregg in Mountain view Ca 1989. Peace... times sure have changed... Eric Underwood class of 81 Downey High School California USA
These guys are amazing, been a fan since I bought a Nimmo Brothers cd, saw them at Barrowland in March, going to Lemon Tree in Aberdeen next week, surely they can fill larger venues, magic live band!!
She's a pretty good bass player but a far cry from Marcus Millers command of the instrument and musical vocabulary. I'd like to hear what she could do over some jazz changes. That's the true test. Marcus can blow over any standard. Giant Steps, Stella whatever.. I think Kinga is just a funk R&B player.. correct me if I'm wrong.
You should definitely check some of her recent music, but even when that video came out 5y ago, she was mostly (at least for me) associated with jazz. Check out Donna Lee or Lennie’s Pennies, I think you may find them interesting :) Marcus Miller cannot be compared with any musician so there is no point in comparing those two, but Kinga has a solid ground in jazz world and now, working with Michael League (from Snarky Puppy) on new album with amazing musicians is only a proof that she grows and we are going to hear about her for many years
Marcus should definitely hire you to vet the musicians he gonna to do a collab with. I’m pretty sure both u and Marcus are on the same level musically. Oh wait
@@chriss7957 with michael league. anyway you're missing the point. we all know how good marcus miller is. he played with miles davis tats a benchmark no one can reach. she being on stage doesnt have to be "oh you need to be as good as marcus to be next to him" becos she has a small musical vocab then marcus that makes her less of a musican?. no one musican is bigger then the tradition itself.
