Another amazing travel experience with Travels By Alex! The scenic views were so beautiful! ❤ Switzerland is definitely on my bucket list. Thanks again Alex for sharing with us. 😍

I wanted to relax and whine down from a busy week. I just watched this great video once again! What a great way to end the week on a Friday night. Thanks @Travels By Alex! 🥰
Of course Skopje has nothing to do with Alexander the Great who was born near Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece and his Greek Macedonian kingdom barely extended to the southernmost part of the modern country of North Macedonia. If there ever was an attitude which best expressed the term 'cultural appropriation' the attitude of 75% of the current citizens of that state, this is it. Their only relation with Ancient Macedonia is that at some point in the late 19th century they decided to call themselves 'Macedonians' to differentiate themselves from the Bulgarians with which they share the same slavic language, for political reasons.
This was another great episode!! I love it so much I just watched it twice. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️🎬 Alex you never fail to share with us such great detailed information of where you’re visiting, including amazing views, and breathtaking scenery. It’s always an uplifting experience with “Travels By Alex”! You and your good friend Jovana have great chemistry and make a great team with capturing real life experiences. I also love the bloopers. I can’t wait to see the next place you visit. 😍
Thanks so much for watching twice! I'm glad you enjoy my videos and also the energy Jovana and I have. She's an awesome friend to travel and see the world with 🙂
Thank you! The food was excellent. They have a great variety of food and there's definitely something for everyone. I hope you get to experience their cuisine if you ever visit 😁
Hey, how do flights work if I am booking it myself? Do I need to arrive/leave in a certain time frame or it doesn't matter. Also, if I book my own flights do I need to book tickets for the bullet train on my own as well?
Hey! Great questions. You can book your own flights to/from Japan for whenever you want. I arrived in Tokyo 1 day before the tour started so I can adjust to the time zone and do my own thing before the tour started. So, it depends on how early you want to arrive. If you arrive a day or more earlier than the tour starts, and/or stay after the tour ends, you will need to find your own accommodation for those extra nights. If you arrive on the day the tour starts, but book your own flights, you don't have to find your own accommodation since you are arriving on the first day of the tour. However, you will need to find your own transportation to your first hotel in Tokyo from the airport, and from your last hotel in Osaka back to the airport, since EF doesn't provide transport for those who book their own flights. I would suggest asking your tour director to help you arrange transport via your hotel, or you can book a cab ahead of time through the airport I think. No, EF books all your transport during the actual trip. You do not need to book bullet trains or anything! :) I also have a general EFUB review video I posted that includes a section about this here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9MkMcxTwJN0.html Hope you have a great trip!
I'm so happy for you that you had the opportunity to visit the Studio Ghibli museum. I plan to go on this trip this October, so fingers crossed that I'm lucky enough to book tickets to the museum.
Thank you! It was a stressful 25 minutes to try to get a ticket but I was so happy when I did. I hope you're able to get a ticket too, because it will be an awesome experience! I made a video all about the Ghibli Museum, including how to get tickets: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KbUKlFxVGUk.html - Good luck!
Watching your video has got me psyched for my trip to Japan this fall! I really appreciate the full breakdown of the itinerary, so I'll know what to expect while I'm there. I've always wanted to be in an onsen, but I unfortunately have a tattoo on my leg, so I probably will have to skip that activity and ask the tour guide for an alternative activity, or maybe even search for a tattoo friendly onsen that's close by. The yukata that they give you to wear, is that something you get to keep as a souvenir?
That's awesome! I think going in fall will be pretty cool because it shouldn't be busy with tourists. The hotel in Hakone should have an onsen, but I am not sure about tattoo rules. Some hotels are more flexible, while others are more strict. You can check with your tour director regarding the hotel rules. You can also try going to a private-room onsen on one of your free days in any of the other cities. They're a bit pricey but you get your own single onsen room for an hour or two. I would have gone to one in Hakone since we were there for 2 days, but I had no time. The yukata at the hotel was just to wear to dinner, although they do sell them in the hotel gift shop if you want to take one home as a souvenir. Feel free to check out the 6-part Japan series where you can get a detailed day-to-day breakdown! Some things in those videos have been changed, though, which I covered in this trip review view (1 less day in Hakone and Hiroshima, no more overnight stays at the monastery).
Thank you so much for making this in-depth review for EF Ultimate Break. I JUST booked my trip to Japan and selected the Highlights of Japan package for this October. I'm in my early 30s, so I'm just a few years shy of the age limit for the tour, and it's one of the reasons why I decided to purchase it. I'm completely new to solo traveling and planning a trip to go overseas feels so daunting. I'm also an introvert, so I took your advice and paid extra for a room for myself. Even though it would be cheaper to get a roommate, I need time to recharge after a long day of traveling and socializing. I'm willing to pay extra if it means I have a peace of mind. Definitely gonna check out your Highlights of Japan video. :D
You're welcome and congrats on booking your first EF trip! You are going to have a great time in Japan 🙌🏻. I'm glad my advice about upgrading to a single room was helpful too. I have done it on my EF trips and have never regretted it 😄. Going on your first international trip, especially solo, can be a bit scary, but EF helps make it a less scary and more fun experience. You get to travel with other folks your age and ultimately can make one or several friends, and everything is planned for you! Let me know if you have any other trip questions. You can also DM me on instagram @travelsbyalex. Happy travels!
Hey! If you are between the ages of 18-35 then traveling with EF might be a great trip for you. You'll get to travel with people in your age range and the best part is EF books everything for you. You won't have to worry about what to do because there are many activities throughout the days, so even if you go alone, you'll be with a big enough group where you can make friends :). I have a video all about the Japan tour if you are interested in watching: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LSjZkW-FpEI.htmlfeature=shared -- if you have any other questions, feel free to leave a comment or send a DM on my instagram @travelsbyalex.
That's so exciting! You are going to have a blast. Day 1 was pretty chill - I think we all arrived at the airport around 7 or 8am, and then went to the hotel to drop off our stuff and have breakfast. From there we were taken on a tour around Reykjavík, had some time to shop, then back to the hotel to rest and freshen up, and ended the evening with a welcome dinner (2:08-6:00). Let me know if you have any other questions :).
Wow! Thanks Alex for sharing yet another great travel experience with us! You and Jovana captured some really great footage, with the architecture, rolling greens and old cobble stone roads. You two make such a great traveling journalistic team with capturing and sharing such beautiful images, videos and scenery! I look forward in your next travel adventure. 😍
You mean return to Serbia (not the Balkans), if I visit Amsterdam for the second time I say back in Holland not return in Benlux you know. Benlux (nl-bel-lux) Anyway welcome back to Serbia.
Hi, thanks for watching! Part 3 takes place in another country in the Balkans, so it made more sense to call this the "Return to Balkans" series, instead of "Return to Serbia". I hope you will be able to tune into part 3 which is coming soon.
Thank you, everyone, for 5,000 views 🎉!! That's the most views any video on my channel has had at the time of this post. I appreciate all of you so much and am thankful for your support. I had a blast revisiting Serbia and exploring more places I didn't get to see during my first trip. Part 2 is coming this week so I hope you'll tune to see where Jovana and I went to next after Belgrade :). - Alex
Ahhh wtching your return video brings warmth to me. I love Belgrade and each time there's something new to explore. Avala Tower, Museum and Restoran Hyde Park will be on my list when I come back in September. Jovana is super cool, I'd love to meet up with her if she's around!!!
Thanks so much for the sweet comment! I'm happy my video brought back some nice memories for you and recommended some new places for your next Serbia visit. Please stay tuned for part 2 where more awesome adventures await :). Have an amazing time in Serbia in September! I will be there in spirit.
Thanks so much for watching and for the nice feedback :). I love visiting Serbia and hope to be back again soon. Part 2 of this series is coming very soon!
Random question, when you landed, did you have to take all your luggage to the hotel or was it forwarded there? And did the TD help with getting suica cards or JR passes? Thank you!
Hey! I arrived a day earlier than everyone else so I had to book my own transportation to the first hotel in Tokyo. I took a cab so my luggage was with me. If EF is booking your flights, you will meet either your tour director, or an EF representative when you land. They will help coordinate travel to the first hotel either by the coach bus, or by cab in small groups (2-3 people). There will be one or two times during the trip when your luggage is forwarded from one hotel to the other, and that's whenever you take the bullet train. The tour itinerary has changed a bit since I went on the trip, but I do talk more about this in my Japan Tour review video if you're interested :). Here's the link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LSjZkW-FpEI.html -- can't wait for you to go on this trip 🙌🏻
Thanks for watching 😊. This online queue didn't exist yet when I was purchasing tickets (a year ago), so I am sadly not able to give a recommendation of how long. My suggestion is to try to test it a few hours before the queue opens, just to make sure you have a good spot. When I was recording the queue portion for my video, it made me wait about 30-50 minutes and when I got in the queue, there were tickets still available. Best of luck and hope you get your ticket 🙌🏻😁
Hey! I booked my own flights because I wanted to arrive early and explore before the tour started. I flew direct to Tokyo from New York with Japan Airlines (JAL). I chat more about this in my Japan Tour review video if you're interested :). Here's the link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LSjZkW-FpEI.html Feel free to reach out if you have additional questions 😊
