There was a polish man near us he had a small farm he was about 5o or so. Used to clean out the calf pens. He spoke pretty good english. I do know he was not very happy always looked sad.i was only 16 years old. We took some calfs to the auction. On the way there was a road block local county deputies . Now remeber this was a new thing. Them stopping you for non inspected cars stuff like that. This was a new thing at the time. He got very upset. His hads started shakeing. He rolled his window down. They asked him were is your inspection sticker it was registered as a farm truck did not need one at that time when this happened. They asked him to pull over and wait. He did. There again his hAnds were shakeing. He looked at me. And said this is not right thats how it was with the germans. He said its hAppening here now just little by little they take your rights away next it will be your guns. Next it will be your children they tell you how to raise them he went on and on. They just told him were is your license so on. Were are you comeing from. Remeber this was new... after he pulled away its here they will tell us this good for you this that. That was 1967. Now i see what he meant.

When Frodo wishes the ring never came to him and Gandalf responds, it reminds me of the interaction between Esther and Mordechai when Mordechai tells Esther that perhaps this is her purpose in the world. Then Esther ovaries up and makes a plan to save her people.

Bless him for surviving and going on to live a long happy life. The best revenge of all. I hear these stories and they just break my heart. So many of these stories have so much in common between the concentration camps, the soldiers in the regular armies, and their tenacity for survival. My Opa, an older German soldier was conscripted to the regular Army and sent to the front lines in Russia. They were left to fight for their lives in more ways than one. No sufficient uniforms, boots, food, etc. Once the war was almost over, they were just abandoned by their commands who took off for Germany letting their troops fall to be either killed, captured by the Russians, and the lucky ones were able to run in the other direction . My Opa was one of the lucky ones who made it all the way back to the Western end of Germany where the family waited on their farm. They were lucky because they had food where many didn’t so they fed many people who passed by either on their way home or looking for family members.

If we don't remember the past,we are going to repeat it. And if we don't fight racism, Jews and blacks will continue to be hated and persecuted. What happened in Nazi Europe may happen again in the United States and Canada. May you rest in peace, Mr."Izzy" Amazing story well told. My Jewish brother. Love you. Euphemia Riley

This kind of bigotry and suffering is very hard to imagine. I’m always amazed at a person’s ability to forgive the inflicting of such mystery. But it’s equally amazing that people believe the lies that lead to such abuse.

Part of it went back to the reparations after ww1. The German people were led to believe that the financial hardships that Germany went through was caused by American Jewish people. Among other things, such as the belief in an Arian race, etc...

The Roman Empire ruled the Biblical lands of Judea, where Jesus, a Jewish rabbi, was born. The Roman's wanted to stop the popularity of Jesus, who traveled around teaching Judaism and also helping people who were ill, etc. The Romans, who worshipped multiple gods, punished these followers of Jesus by 'crucifixion' (affixing them to a cross) until they died. Jesus was looked upon as a criminal by the Romans, and they captured him and he was sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate, a Roman official. After the death of Jesus, his followers called themselves Christians (believers that Jesus was the Christ, or son of God). Actually Jesus believed himself to be the son of God, which separated him from the original Jews who didn't believe he was. When the Catholic (which means "international") religion developed, it was adopted by Rome, among other cultures. To get worshippers to share their beliefs, the Catholic priests began to teach their congregations that Jesus was sentenced to death by his own people, referring to the Jews who witnessed his public trial and sentencing. That story brought on the anti-Jewish feelings known as anti-Semitism. (Semitism means originating from the Biblical Semitic tribes, such as Abraham (Hebrews) and Ishmael (Arabs). Anyway, that story about the death of Jesus was taught to every Catholic as part of standard Bible study until the 1980s, when the sitting Pope declared it as false. But the damage was done, and all kinds of bizarre stories and conspiracy theories have sprung from that one ancient false tale. I am glad you have taken time to ask about one of the most misunderstood questions of all time!

“Sure you’re an auto mechanic.” “Yes sir, I can fix all kinds of autos😭”, wow. The kindness of that man that saved him and his brothers lives. I almost cried of laughter and happiness when he said that. I know we should be thinking about all the horrible things the Holocaust brought on, but can we take a moment and pray for the man that saved them? I wonder if he’s still alive or if he was caught and put to death? I appreciate Izzy for telling his story, and if he’s reading the comments, I’m very sorry that this happened to you❤️

In the end it is a beautiful love story. Like all of the difficulties that Yidden have suffered there is a purpose and a future that we do not have to understand. But when you see the divine influence that made these two come together and build new generations you must believe that there is a master plan and a Master Planner. Happenstance is not a factor when you put together the chances against this joining of souls.

The war with Germany/AXIS powers was over on May 8th 1945 but unfortunately many of the NAZI SS tried to kill as many Jews as possible right up to the liberation of some of the camps. Maybe they were talking about the beginning of the end of the war which began with D-Day June 6th 1944.
