Aren’t Snakeheads an invasive species or am I incorrect? Just wondering as I understand they should be eradicated. Please correct me if I am wrong. On the other side, very nice fish. Congratulations!
They are invasive yes. They, as in MD DNR, have lost the eradication battle. They're here to stay and on top of that it hasn't been proven they've done any damage to the native species.
Because they're fun to catch, there's no proof of them causing any damage to the native species here. Do you release bass? They were once labeled invasive.
They are technically but they've been in Maryland for over 20yrs and they haven't been able to prove they've done any damage to the native species here.
It may be legal but you're actively reintroducing a invasive species to the ecosystem. Maryland state gov actively encourages the targeting and harvest of the species. So congrats on wrecking the local ecosystem
Am I the only one who thinks the Bowfin found in North America resembles a snake head? They aren't in the same family of fishes but eerily similar in my mind.
